The Sooners got the win in Starkville today but it still felt like we got away with one. Mississippi State lost their starting QB early and we still made it harder than it needed to be.
Illegal formations on back-to-back field goal attempts, a delay of game on defense, burning timeouts on a kickoff and during an injury, going 3-of-6 on field goals, and still being careless with the ball in the end zone. We keep finding ways to leave points and drives on the field instead of putting teams away.
The one thing that looked better was the commitment to the run. We actually mixed it in and got some production instead of forcing everything through the air. That has to stick. The rest of the details still look the same Venables & Arbuckle coached team.
