But why one South Korean case in Cambodia was blamed hardly by Korean people.
Police raided a luxury Bangkok house rented for 150,000 baht a month during an investigation into an alleged scam network targeting South Koreans. Police arrested eight South Koreans and two Chinese nationals in the joint Thai–South Korean operation on October 19, 2026 over alleged prosecutor impersonation and romance scams. Thailand’s Immigration Bureau revoked all 10 suspects’ visas and is coordinating with South Korean authorities to trace money flows and arrange further legal proceedings. #scammers #ScamNetwork #scamraid #TheNationThailand #TheNation nationthailand.com/news/gene…

Khmer dish best with Phka Malis aromatic rice!
Fish Amok is a traditional Khmer dish that combines fish with kroeung, a fragrant herb-and-spice paste made from lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, and kaffir lime leaves. Mixed with coconut milk and egg, the fish is gently steamed until the mixture develops a soft, custard-like texture. Traditionally, people steam Fish Amok in banana leaf cups, which also give the dish its distinctive presentation. Freshwater fish has long been central to Cambodia’s food culture, supported by the country’s rivers and lakes. Together with the aromatic kroeung, it brings together ingredients and flavours characteristic of Khmer cuisine. #TableforEleven

The iconic giant tree roots cascading over the ancient stone ruins of Ta Prohm temple located in the Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap, Cambodia 🇰🇭 Ta Prohm Temple (Monastery of the King), was built in a Bayon style, as a Mahayana Buddhist Monastery and University, it's construction started in 1186 CE, but generally considered to have been added to and embellished over a period of several years. With the passage of time; Ta Prohm lay forgotten and neglected, Cambodian jungle wasted no time in devouring it. Silk-cotton and strangler fig trees took root in the loosened stones of the temple, which was built entirely without mortar. Their roots wound through the structure, creating an astonishing merger of nature and architecture. Built at the height of the Khmer Empire by Jayavarman VII in 12th Century CE, as a Buddhist monastery and center of learning, Ta Prohm (known as Rajavihara back then) has a traditional Khmer structure consisting of a series of gradually smaller enclosures, the largest of which is about 1000 by 650m. Sanctuary is centered around the huge, elevated stone face of Prajnaparamita, personification of wisdom, whose features were modeled after those of the king’s mother. When Angkor was rediscovered in early 20th Century CE, by French archaeologists, all of the temples had become overgrown–but none so spectacularly as Ta Prohm. Nevertheless, as they excavated and restored the other temples, the archaeologists had to make sure that the giant tree roots enveloping Ta Prohm would not further deteriorate the structure or make it dangerous to visit. Though Ta Prohm may look like nature unfettered, the appearance of neglect is in fact fastidiously maintained. Ta Prohm’s popularity has soared in recent years along with the rest of the Angkor complex, but especially because of its appearance in the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Be sure to check out controversial Dinosaur of Ta Prohm–a corner of the Ta Prohm temple with a strange story of its own. Another contributor to the rising popularity of Ta Prohm was the inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. #archaeohistories

Wishing all back to normal as before May 2025.
The EyeWitness Project has been observing the security situation in Thma Da, in Cambodia’s Pursat Province, for several years. During that time, we saw a steady growth in cyber-scam and forced-labour activity. When we visited just weeks before the latest round of fighting in December, 2025, surveillance drones hovered overhead as we spoke with local soldiers and documented evidence of Thai forces gradually advancing further into Cambodian territory. Initially, those advances took place largely without the use of force. That changed in December. Thma Da became a significant flashpoint in the fighting, and a stark example of where armed conflict and the cyber-scam industry are now colliding. It is a pattern we are increasingly seeing in other states. Since the December ceasefire, Thai forces have consolidated control over roughly half of the town, using barricades, shipping containers and embedded troops to hold their positions. Sustained fighting involving small-arms fire, artillery, drones and airstrikes has left Thma Da visibly scarred by the conflict. Many of the scam compounds that were emptied during the fighting have been badly damaged or destroyed. Driving through the centre of the town, the divide is pretty stark: on one side, abandoned scam compounds; on the other, a heavily fortified section of the town occupied by Thai soldiers. Within the Thai-controlled area sits the remains of a former Cambodian casino hit by Thai air strikes in December, that was linked to scam operations and now sits firmly on the other side of the frontline.

Covering the border tensions with Thailand in Cambodia’s Pursat province in August 2026. A ceasefire between the two countries has been holding since December 2025, but a risk of renewed armed conflict remains. Since the December ceasefire, our EWP has received numerous reports of fighter jets crossing into Cambodian territory and observed instances of gunfire and drones along the Cambodia-Thailand border. Thousands of civilians remain unable to return to their homes, while Thai military positions and barricades continue to expand into areas historically claimed by Cambodia. The situation remains tense, with civilians living alongside an increasingly militarised border.
