We turned empty cans into little noisemakers for Lana to enjoy inside our tent. With no toys around, I wanted to make something simple that could bring a bit of joy and curiosity to her day. I filled the empty cans with rice, corn, peas, and almonds from the food aid we received, so each one makes a different sound when turned over. They may be made from simple items we had on hand, but for Lana, they became something new to discover and play with. Seeing her curious little face and her smile as she played with something I made for her means more to me than words can express. Sometimes, even in the toughest circumstances, simple things can create a small moment of childhood happiness inside our tent.🍉
