This is why manga v comic debate is dumb on one side you have manga fans who don’t bother reading comics and the other side there’s a bunch of comic fans who refuse to read anything other than shonen

Not a single manga will ever be considered one of the greatest pieces of literature of all time. There are countless comics that are though. You can’t even use the excuse that it’s foreign. There are countless great Japanese films that are considered some of the best films ever.

It's how the bigger Manga industy has more variety than the comic book industry. You could say that most manga out there is isekai slop power fantasy, but you could also easily avoid the whole crop and still be a manga enjoyer. If you hate superheroes, welp. Store won't have it.

I still agree with Comicdrake that they should turn dc compact into the regular trade format and keep the og trades for collectors cause casuals don’t care if their book looks pretty they just wanna read a story

There’s also the fact that most people assume American comics are just superheroes with 60+ years of lore when there’s a lot of independent shit you can get into at any time

I think a big problem with American comics is just how it’s distributed most people who read mangas legally read it through volumes and their volumes are cheap, and small while comic volumes are large, pricy, and usually take months to release
