If there's nothing to watch, people don't tune in. I'd say the decline is about in line with how fewer and fewer interesting cartoons were being aired.
They don't even need to air new stuff, they have an entire catalogue of old cartoons that they used to air. Air those in the down time.
Dexters Lab, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, I Am Weasel, I R Baboon and Cow and Chicken just to name a few. So what if they're reruns, their audience is children. That audience is constantly rotating because children grow up and a new generation of kids start watching.

I have lost count of how many generations I've made were unusable. Its a matter of trying again and again and adjusting things until you can get something workable
I don't have NEARLY enough footage to compile from the first AIMV on its own to make an entire video, but a lot of time gets wasted on bad gens like this.
Yada yada, not hard, yes yes, we get it.
Waiting is not hard. We're not saying its hard. It's just funny, and at worst its annoying. Especially when we don't know what caused the issue. Sometimes, using the wrong word is all takes to completely ruin a clip. So a LOT of rewriting has to be done.
Tedious would be the right word.
Something like Mary Sue is done using more advanced models than MiniMax and isn't handled by local GPU, so each failed gen usually costs money too. That can be where a lot of the money gets spent on these kinds of projects.
Heck, my first major video project, the Zuckerborg one, cost around $900 in tokens to generate using Seedance 2.5.
A good 80% of that was on redoing various shots due to things like characters punching air, forgetting to properly hook up reference sheets, misspelling a word causing the entire gen to go off the rails or forgetting punctuation somewhere in the thousands of words that resulted in nonsense.
Fixing the prompt, then waiting 20 mins to see if the fix actually worked is not fun. :')

I already have a portfolio dating back to 2006, with a history in drawing since 1996, I dabbled in flash animation in 2006-2007 and my current career is in balloon art (and has been for 8 years now).
And yet me, just trying to make what I want, still gets me tons of hate.
So I channeled my frustration into an AIMV. You know. Like real art?
I based it on my lived experiences and my feelings of constantly being called a fake artist by those who have never even picked up a pencil.
Art comes from the soul. It expresses the artists feelings.
I am more of an artist than you will ever be.
Well... After showing some of my videos to my brother, I ended up figuring out the new method I'm using to try and keep the environment consistent for the new episode was also fucking the quality of the characters after a bit, and too late to try and go back and fix it.

Throat Goat Ethan Van Sciver has been thoroughly humiliated on all fronts by his Cyberfrog #1 Plus Hellephant campaign.
After 30 days he barely managed to drag it across $50k and that is only because of interest in his Isom/Eric July parody character. The few people that are buying that trashrag are doing it because of the Isom/Eric July parody character which has COMPLETELY ECLIPSED Cyberfrog in audience interest. Ethan has been forced to do a second 30 days to scramble to drag that corpse past $100k. The worse part is that Ethan got humiliated by a trading card set. You heard that right.
When the New Cyberfrog #1 campaign launched, Ethan started up his usual spite-funding tactic declaring that he must, and will, earn more than the Rippaverse trading card campaign. After the lackluster launch and the iceberg-slow trickle of backer since, Ethan has retreated from that declaration in hopes that his goldfish brained audience will forget his words. But the wider internet doesn't forget.
The Rippaverse cards preorder closed at $125k that's more than double what new Cyberfrog #1 has earned. So not only is Ethan looking at his first ever failed Cyberfrog campaign, he is looking at that campaign having its ass kicked by a trading card campaign from the Rippaverse. It's a loss on every conceivable front for Ethan. And an ill omen for Cyberfrog 4, which Ethan DESPERATELY wants to launch in 2027 because he thinks that will be a million dollar windfall that will fund his indolence and stupidity for the next decade.
