It is quite obvious that one does not address the people of Iran, whether those in prisons or elsewhere, by writing letters in English to The Guardian. Therefore, the audience of the letter is not in any way its declared one; it is quite clearly, the left & solidarity movements.

This piece in the @FT by Adam Hanieh is one of the best compact accounts I’ve read of the actual material implications of shutting off shipping through Hormuz. Well worth reading.

I’ve been contacted by THREE Labour Party whistleblowers, inc. a former frontbencher, + been passed a sensitive Excel spreadsheet by a senior politician in Scotland.
The evidence is clear: Mandelson + McSweeney built a covert network of Labour MPs.
Here’s what they’re hiding:🧵

This motherfucker stole $20k from the parents of Refaat Alareer, seemingly stringing them along for months, all so he could live high on the Treatlerite hog in LA while not working. Absolutely vile. And what a disingenuous, self-pitying response. Sickening. 🤬

Response - direct copy paste:
'I understand everyone is furious and the seriousness/urgency of the situation. I’ve already spoken to Adel today and been honest about everything. Im not running or hiding, I just cant respond to 50 people I whom I don’t know. I’m working on doing what I can to fix this asap. I don’t understand why you’d involve her in this. I will ensure his family receives all they owe.
The delays in the beginning were outside my control - the wires I sent bounced back. I reached out for help, and a comrade advised it was probably a fraud hold. I contacted the bank, but they said there was no such hold or block on the account. I spoke to another customer service person at the bank, and we went through the wire process together. It didn’t go through, and the person informed me everything was fine on my end, but that it was Adel’s father’s account that was shut down. I have the call logs and screenshots of all this. I asked Adel if there was someone else there who could receive it and hand it to his father or if there was crypto. He told me there was no other way. So I said please atp we need to find someone else there who can receive it. This was August. I only heard back from him this month with someone’s info in a diff country. How that will get to his parents I don’t know. In between these 4 months, I did get very sick (autoimmune issues) and couldn’t work. My unemployment and ebt were also cut off. I made the shameful and stupid decision to borrow the funds, thinking I’d get work soon and pay it back. I was sicker longer than I thought and only started working again this month. I’m not saying any of this for sympathy or as an excuse, nor does my reason matter. It was very stupid of me. Once Adel confirms the person’s info he sent, I will transfer what I have on me today, and will continue to work to repay his family. Please don’t refer to me as “boy.” This is my priority.'
