Skiff Day ... lost count
You can now set default agents and models for different task types. Web search, send Gemini. What's trending on X, send Grok. Coding and design, send Opus 5.5. Adversarial ASHKUALLY reviews, send Codex GPT6.
Skipper works and watches all day. Wakes you up with a pirate shanty, if you want.
We pushed a new version of migrate-filemaker. If you're a FileMaker developer, the part to look at first is the explode step.
FileMaker exports a DDR as one XML file per database file. Our test DDR was 174 MB across two files. Grepping raw DDR XML is miserable.
So the skill takes it apart. Every script, table, layout, relationship, value list, custom function, menu, account and privilege set becomes its own text file. Scripts come out as numbered steps. Layouts come out as an object tree with their hide rules, triggers, buttons and portal filters. Every calculation shows its text plus a refs line listing the fields and custom functions it uses, so finding everything that touches Invoices::total is one grep.
On the test DDR that took 20 seconds and produced 4,542 object files covering 36,051 calculations.
With the DDR in pieces, the work splits across agents. In the test, 22 subagents read all 4,542 objects in about 12 minutes, and the migration plan cites object files as its evidence.
Why can't @AppStore do this like @MicrosoftStore ?
Dosirak is $24.49 at launch... but hey look! You can download a trial right there.
Isn't this way better than listing the app as "Free" and then, surprise surprise, hitting your users with trial terms and paywalls AFTER they install?
I don't buy the claims from anyone running software factories and one-shotting entire systems overnight. The human care and judgment it takes to build anything truly useful is the same as it's always been.
Microsoft gets a lot of criticism (often well deserved), but one thing they get right is the Microsoft Store review process. You can upload an MSIX and have it approved in under 30 minutes.
Are you shipping to the Microsoft Store?
If not, why? There are like 250 million people using that store every month.
One thing I love about VSCode, maybe the only thing 🫢, is saving projects in a workspace.
I'm now bringing that same concept to Skiff.
Save your open projects and fleets to a .skiffw file so you can quickly switch workspaces without going insane.
How do you manage the chaos?
New in Skiff: the Ledger.
Every job Skipper hands out lands here, grouped into Working, Open, and Finished, with progress counts and links to the issue or commit behind it.
Skiff, Dosirak, Redstrings, all in one panel. I can see what the crew is doing without asking, and without cycling through dozens of panes.
Sometimes it feels like every solution exists. You build something, put it out there, nobody cares. Marketing without an audience is harder than building it.
Try showing up. Pick up the phone, be in the room, be the local person they call. That part is hard to copy.
Skiff Agent: Coordinate Coding Agents with Skipper
youtube.com/watch?v=V3krR-TY…
How do you decide which model gets which job?
In Skiff I set defaults now. Web search goes to Gemini. What's trending on X goes to Grok. Coding and design go to Opus. Reviews go to Codex.
What does your split look like?
YouTube makes everything seem so easy. Just DIY bro. Then you meet the final boss, a "serviceable" part, buried in a cramped space, secured by a brittle plastic mechanism that requires a very specific movement nobody explains properly. 💀
Here's a Skipper prompt I just sent
The problem is I'm still specifying the model for each task. Is the next step baking in model preferences for different task types? I could put Gemini and Grok to work a lot more.
Turns out I don't need a 1GB GigaApp to orchestrate my agents.
Skiff is the minimalist ADE
It's a light GUI over a real terminal, and a daemon owns every session, so closing the app doesn't kill my agents.
Then I let Skipper hand out the work and collect the results.
Skiff Skipper is here!
SSH in from my phone
> skiff skipper
attaches to my Skipper session. We have two Claude agents running in worktrees: fixes and docs.
> ping me when they're done
Literal remote control. No shenanigans. No Electron. No hooks, no probes, no nagging configs. Simple and light.
Ctrl+\ to detach
Skiff Skipper! The Orchestrator
You can name it whatever you want btw.
So here's the concept. Skiff creates an agent profile in ~/skiff-agent, using the model of your choice.
Then you get a fixed Skipper session pane on the rail. From there, Skipper orchestrates all your project and fleet sessions via skiff-cli.
Skipper keeps a ledger db and runs a watcher to monitor the crew.
The nice thing is that through skiff-cli, Skipper can create sessions, theme them, name them, group them, split them, and kill them.
Coming up: a skiff-cli command that launches Skipper from the terminal, so I can commandeer the convoy from my phone using Termius.
this needs to be studied.
how we went from "the customer is always right" and a friendly associate on the phone to -> public shaming on social media as the only escalation path.
turns out you have to become a journalist and an influencer to get any redress.
Hey @PaddleHQ, You’ve been withholding over $10K in payouts for 3 months now...
Ive promptly provided all requested documentation and Paddle itself signed the paperwork on August 21.
Since then, I’ve repeatedly emailed your support and Risk teams with almost no meaningful response. My funds are still locked, and I’m being ignored.
I’ve exhausted the normal support channels. I shouldn’t have to resort to Twitter to get a response about my own money.
Can someone at Paddle please take ownership of this and resolve it?
Skiff Mission Control!
Ctrl+Shift+A now shows all your project and fleet sessions on one screen. Ctrl+Shift+P to filter them. Navigate with your keyboard. See everything at once.
Next feature: Skipper, the orchestrator agent (maybe)
And then we're done (hopefully)
Big milestone. Redstrings Share is now available to Pro users!
Upload your boards to a public URL and share them with anyone. They work on mobile too.
