In Kitengela, the challenge isn’t finding water. It is making it usable. This project is a real-life example of how Solargen is using the sun to turn salty water into a reliable source of clean water in places that need it most. The water available at the GivePower Kitengela site is saline. Before it can be used, it must go through a water-softening and purification process and that process requires a reliable source of energy. So, we turned to one of Kitengela’s most abundant resources: sunshine. Solargen installed a complete solar and energy-storage system to power the water farm: ☀️ 168 Jinko 400W solar panels — 67.2 kWp 🔋 10 Tesla Powerwalls — 135 kWh of storage ⚡ 6 × 7.7 kW inverters — 46.2 kW AC capacity During the day, the panels generate clean energy to power the purification process. The batteries store the excess energy, allowing the system to continue operating even when the sun is no longer shining. But the real impact of this project goes beyond panels, batteries and kilowatts. It is about using one natural resource to unlock another. Sunlight becomes energy. Energy powers purification. Salty water becomes clean, usable water. That is the power of solar when it is designed around a real human need.
