You can read all about that in the paper. We also use parental social class data, not just Free School Meals, to allow much more nuanced insights into school populations. We also looked at the correlation between parental social class for students going to university & FSM:

How are school in the UK clustered by class & ethnicity? 5 clusters: multi-racial & super-diverse middle & working-class schools of cities, suburban white middle class schools, established elite schools & (post-)industrial white working class schools. doi.org/10.1002/berj.70006

There's only one Labour Dame on the list of those opposing cuts to PIP and Universal Credit which will have terrible effects on disabled people and carers, including many in Newcastle. Perhaps we could add another to the list?
Madam Deputy Speaker just called Dame Chi Onwurah to speak and for a moment I wasn't sure who she was referring to...#Damehood

At a regional meeting for trades councils and Unite reps, hosted by @unitetheunion in the North East & Yorkshire. Inspiring to hear colleagues here. But also we need more ppl involved! Join your union & get active in it! Frankly our future depends on it.

Given this by a dissertation student y'day. Really as a thank you for doing my job - listening, checking they understood, giving them time to translate & make notes. Internationalisation is problematic but despite that there's still space for meaningful learning & dialogue.

Interesting that Wales is so much more tied into Oxbridge than Scotland in producing political elites. Fits with the argument we explored here about the geographies of elite education, the four nations and the geographies of the Anglo-British state. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

John Prescott - I preferred his early work. Like when he played a role in the National Union of Seamen strike in 1966 (which Wilson announced a state of emergency). If anyone knows the detail of his role a bit more, would be interesting. academic.oup.com/tcbh/articl…...

This photo is from 1982. A lot more has been built where this photo is taken from in Durham. What would the consequences be for a similar level of flooding I wonder? iiif.durham.ac.uk/jalava/#in…
