Blackmailing Ukraine to capitulate helps him (and Kushner and Witkoff) move closer to the business deals they are pursuing with Putin.
Secondly, once Ukraine is forced to its knees with his help, Trump can lie that he ended his 9th war and deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump doesn't care about Ukraine (that's clear), let alone Europe, but he also doesn't care about Russia or America. If there's nothing for him personally, he looks where he can find what makes him look strong and admired. It is all about him and his ego. Europe and Ukraine have played into his vanity poorly. Putin, with his KGB/FSB and SVR, knows how to work with NPD targets. As does the CCP.

All this isn't helping Melenchon though....he may lose left but less extreme voters to Glucksmann, meaning Philippe (or less likely, Glucksmann himself) might come second ahead of Melenchon and reach second round...either has more chance of beating Le Pen than Melenchon does....

There are still people on the right who venerate this lunatic.

Reminds me of 1977 New York blackout riots where locals appalled at the senseless destruction tried to stop looters from attacking businesses. Only some succeeded.

A young French leftist urges rioters to stop looting shops. She tells them "this is not the cause".
I think she has a very different idea of "the cause" compared to the looters.

Here is Putin blaming the Poles for forcing Hitler to invade their country. It is the same perverted justification that he uses for invading Ukraine. Putin is very much Hitler's student. His reasoning is that of a controlling psychopath who always blames his victim.
By disabling Starshield services for Ukraine's interceptor drones Trump and Musk are actively collaborating in Russia's attempt to kill and terrorise Ukrainian civilians and to make Ukraine's cities uninhabitable.
Russia's goal is genocide. It is to totally erase the Ukrainian nation, identity, people, language, culture, and history.
For Russia, Ukraine is a country that does not exist, did not exist, must not exist, and will not exist. Putin shows visitors old maps in an attempt to prove to them that there is no such thing as the Ukrainian nation.
Musk and Trump are now collaborating in Russia's genocidal war. – at Brighton, England

worst administration in the history of our country. 150 civilians killed and hundreds injured in the terror campaign just last week, and you decide to use it as leverage? against an ally? while not demanding or even speaking negatively of Russia and Putin? it's unAmerican.

Marco Rubio says Zelenskyy doesn't know what he's talking about regarding disruptions to Starshield.
But Reuters reports that the White House ordered restrictions on the very system Ukraine has been using for military operations. Starshield is controlled by the U.S. government, with operational limits ultimately determined by the Pentagon and president.
Rubio then claimed Ukraine doesn't even have access to it.
Think about that. The U.S. Secretary of State is dismissing Ukraine's president while contradicting reporting about his own government's military operations.
Either Rubio doesn't know how a critical U.S.-controlled military system is being used in an active war, or he's publicly denying what his own administration is doing.
Neither explanation inspires confidence. Both demand answers.

THE GAS PROPOSAL is now the latest sign of the Trump administration's willingness to ease economic pressure on Russia.
According to the NYT, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff have suggested to Ukraine and European representatives that Europe should start buying more Russian gas again.
According to the US, Ukraine should consider re-commissioning the gas pipelines that previously transported Russian natural gas to Europe — this would then entice Russia to end the war in Ukraine.

When he tries to run for president, and claims to stand up to our global adversaries, show him this.
And then shove it down his craven fucking throat.

Can you be more ill-informed about Putin and Russia?
Vance: "I've never met Putin in person. I've spoken to him on the phone. He was calmer than you might expect. The American media has a stereotype of him. He's very deliberate and measured in his words.
I think, at his core, he's someone who cares about Russia's interests as he sees them. One reason he respects the President is that he recognizes the President cares about the interests of the American people."
