"I believe the world is about to witness a tidal wave of technological innovation emerging from India."
The world has a very outdated view of what India is, and I think many people are going to be utterly shocked when this wave that you're describing @anandmahindra finally reaches them.
"This robot was made in India? Even the actuators?!"
"This specialty chemical was discovered and manufactured by an Indian company? And they've got a patent for it too?!"
"The electric vehicle I love driving so much was built indigenously in India? Along with the battery cells?!"
So much has changed in just ~5 years. It's mind-boggling even for someone like me who has called India home for nine years and has been laser-focused on startups. Young people are entering adulthood with no self-imposed mental limitations. No ceilings. They believe they can do anything, build anything, be anything.
I believe they can too.
The Indian startup ecosystem is on steroids.
And what excites me most is that this isn’t just about software. It’s about deeptech. Manufacturing technology. Hardcore hardware. Cutting-edge chemical processes.
A new generation of Indian entrepreneurs is building the capabilities that could allow us to leapfrog entire stages of technological development.
These videos, courtesy @ashleevance & @RuntimeBRT, offer just a glimpse of what’s being cooked up in labs, workshops & factories across India.
And right on cue, Rajan Anandan, former head of Google India, & Saurabh Srivastava, one of India’s pioneering entrepreneurs & institution builders, have released a book calling India a ‘Lift-Off Nation.’
An apt description.
Because I believe the world is about to witness a tidal wave of technological innovation emerging from India.
And it’s being powered by young entrepreneurs who are daring to build things we once assumed could only be built elsewhere.
My salute to them.

Aur yahan log politicians ke piche apne doston se lad rahe hai 😅
THE WHY IS THE STORY.
Yusuf Pathan sought a municipal plot in Vadodara in 2012. The proposal was rejected by the Gujarat government in 2014. In 2024, the BJP-controlled VMC served him an encroachment notice. The land was valued at ₹20.5 crore.
Now, two months after he quit TMC, Gujarat proposes to GIFT him 500 sq m and sell him another 478 sq m at a 45% discount.
What changed? Why should a disputed public plot be gifted to a politician on such sweet terms?

India was early / first in maps, webmail, search, e-commerce, online office, browser, social, messaging and mobile OS.
- 1995. MapmyIndia started digitally mapping India. Google Maps came 10 years later.
- 1996. Rediff put up the subcontinent's first web server. By 1999 it was reaching 45% of India's internet users.
- 1997. Khoj, an Indian search engine, was live before Google was even a company.
- 2000. Baazee became India's first big e-commerce site. eBay bought it in 2004. eBay India shut in 2018.
- 2005. Zoho launched Writer, an online word processor. Google Docs arrived a year later.
- 2007-08. A dozen Indian social networks: ibibo, BigAdda, Bharatstudent, Yaari. Orkut and Facebook overtook them by 2009.
- 2010. Epic, an Indian browser, got 4.5 lakh downloads in its 1st month.
- 2012. Hike messenger. 100M users by 2016, valued at $1.4B. Shut in 2021.
- 2016. Indus OS became India's 2nd most used smartphone OS, ahead of iOS. PhonePe bought it in 2021.
"Almost" nothing is left standing, except MapmyIndia and Zoho.
Always remember dependence has a bill. In July 2025, Microsoft cut Indian refiner Nayara Energy off from its own data over EU sanctions. It took a Delhi HC case to get it back. In July 2024, one faulty update from one American firm stopped check-ins at Indian airports.
I know that Indigenous Products have to win on merit but again merit needs users. 🙏🙏
