Final (I hope) word about the SAT for now: When journalists cite extreme claims about the validity of the tests THAT EVEN THE TEST MAKERS WON'T CLAIM you might want to be suspicioius about the veracity of those claims. #EMTalk

I think I like this message from Bowdoin. Red part of the pid chart raises some interesting questions about college admissions.

Fascinating but unsurprising new SAT inequity data per @socialassurity: 33% of the children of the very richest families scored a 1300 or higher, while less than 5% of middle-class students hit that score. Only 1 in 5 students from the poorest families took the test at all.

Looking forward to participating in this panel tomorrow!
At #NACAC23, join us for discussion w/@ronlieber @DeanSoule_UPenn @WhitneyGouche about transparency in admissions. Is more information always better? What data do applicants want colleges to disclose during the admissions process? What are the reasons colleges won't? @NACAC

What happens to test optional going forward asks @spamfriedrice? It's not up to us, say admissions officers. It's up to the board, faculty, and others. Data only could do so much to influence decisions. #NACAC2023

Here’s an underappreciated fact about higher education in the United States: Most college students in the United States and its territories attend a public college or university that admits most or all applicants.🧵
