🇵🇸❤️ Pep Guardiola has delivered a powerful and emotional message about the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza:
🗣️ Guardiola: "They are not dead, they are people who have been killed. They are not numbers. They are lives with names, faces, families, dreams, and memories.
When we stop calling things by their rightful names, when we accept a language that hides the pain, we begin to lose our humanity.
We are living through a very dark period of our history.
We see children in Gaza searching for their parents under the rubble, asking for help, suffering from hunger, left alone. We watch them lose everything before they even have the chance to grow up.
And this hell continues; along with it, the dehumanisation of the Palestinian people persists.
Their lives are as important as ours. Their pain is not foreign to us. Let us not forget this.
To date, the Israeli government has killed more than 74,000 people in Gaza and continues to block the entry of humanitarian aid. As Gaza continues to be destroyed, the demolition of Palestinians' homes and forced displacements in the West Bank persist.
For decades, they have lived with displacement, violence, loss, grief, trauma, uncertainty, and injustice. Today, silence is a form of taking sides. And we will not remain silent. Please keep talking about Palestine. Keep defending humanity in the face of indifference."

Anyone can dream, but the undeniable reality is that this is the official map of the Federal Republic of Somalia, governed from its capital, Mogadishu. People can dream all they want, but the international community and the United Nations recognize Somalia as one sovereign state

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

⚠️ Muslim woman attacked in Crawley, West Sussex
On 5th October, a Muslim woman in Niqab was physically attacked in Crawley, West Sussex.
Statement from the victim:
"An assault that took place in Crawley, West Sussex, involving myself, a Muslim woman who wears the niqab.
I had been attending an appointment and was walking into Crawley Town to purchase some items I needed for the weekend. As I walked along the road to make my way home an individual approached me from behind and pushed me with such force towards a busy road that my face smashed into the bus stop structure or a nearby lamp post.
As a result of this attack, I sustained a cut and a black eye, a cut to my chin, and bruising to my back, leg and strain.
Unfortunately, I did not see the perpetrator's face. All I saw was someone running away from the scene. What made the experience even more distressing was that nobody who was around asked whether I was okay or offered any assistance.
I spent the remainder of my journey home wiping blood from my face, having been left to deal with the aftermath of this attack alone.
This incident is particularly concerning in the context of the repeated verbal abuse and intimidation I experience in Crawley as a woman who wears the niqab. I have been told to “go back to my own country”, called a “ninja”, "A P**i", intimidated by people with dogs, shouted at by people from their car windows, and had rubbish thrown at me. This usually is by white youth and middle aged white men. It has been ongoing for 3 years.
These repeated experiences have left me deeply concerned for my safety when simply going about my daily life.
I cannot say with certainty who carried out this assault or what their motive was. However, given the repeated Islamophobic and anti-Muslim abuse I have experienced, I believe it is important that this incident is taken seriously by other Muslim women within Crawley and that they stay vigilant."
