Inspirado en su abuelo, Juan Cereigido (26) desarrolló Ato, un acompañante virtual con inteligencia artificial para ayudar a los adultos mayores a comunicarse. “Tenía que buscar la forma de que mi abuelo estuviera comunicado primero y acompañado después”, contó a Clarín.
Cómo funciona Ato
Se activa diciendo “Hola, Ato” y permite conversar sobre temas cotidianos, escuchar música o recibir recordatorios. También avisa sobre medicaciones, lee y envía mensajes por WhatsApp, todo sin pantallas ni botones.
“No hay que tocar nada: se habla con él y responde. Si le pedís música, te pregunta cómo estás de ánimo”, explicó Cereigido.
Del video viral a la inversión de Pergolini
El primer prototipo fue probado por su abuelo y el video superó los 4 millones de vistas. Mario Pergolini vio la publicación, se interesó y se convirtió en el primer inversor. “Nos dio el empujón cuando Ato era solo un experimento”, dijo Juan.
Hoy el dispositivo se produce con apoyo del fondo Founders Inc en Silicon Valley y ya se vende en Estados Unidos, España, México, Suiza y Argentina, a 150 dólares más una suscripción mensual. “Queremos que la tecnología también piense en los mayores”, resume su creador.
