What is the order in which a newbie to #dotnet learns key concepts nowadays? I have someone on my team that is fine with async/await, linq, #dotnetcore, MVC, React, etc. However, they didn't know about auto-implemented properties (was writing them with backing fields)...

Be curious to see blog posts from new developers about their journey and the order in which they learned, or recommend learning concepts

Setting off from (not so) sunny Bournemouth in about an hour to see @t_bartoszewski and @philoUK. Got my park and ride all planned out and should arrive in time for a beer beforehand. Thanks for organising, @dracan - look forward to seeing you all there.

Looks like I might have found a bug in corefx - git blame suggests @davidfowl as the culprit. Exciting! My first foray into corefx; at what point do I give up on intellisense... (brief bug details: invalid cast from byte[] here: github.com/dotnet/corefx/bla… - diagnosing now)

Damn, I think the case is too atypical to really call this a bug in corefx (am doing some weird stuff). I was mocking a ReadAsync call and returning ReadOnlySequence<byte>.Empty, which the code then tries to AdvanceTo, which blows up. Normal people probably won't do that 😀

Hey @ArmoredWar - I played your game for a few minutes in 2015. Didn't really enjoy it but best of luck to you. Bigger question though, how do I unsubscribe from your My.Games spam?

I was actually excited when I found a (minor/unimportant) bug in #aspnetcore because it meant I got to PR a fix. Was actually a little nerve wracking and led to me making a dumb mistake in my PR, but big thanks to the MS guys (and @Tratcher espec.) for making it feel welcoming.

@davidfowl I think I might have posted the first stackoverflow question about SequenceReader. Not sure whether to cheer or apologise... stackoverflow.com/questions/…

@marcgravell did I see somewhere that you were playing with SequenceReader?

Want to get my hands on the new SequenceReader in #dotnetcore 3 so just upgraded to latest VS preview and upgraded to preview 8. I'm astounded how smooth it's gone! No guide was necessary, just follow the slick build warnings which tell you exactly what to do. Great job #dotnet

I'm going back to school this week! I'll be doing 40-45 minute classes with 7-8 & 10-11 year olds. Going in circles as to content though. Does anyone have advice, tips, or someone in their network that might be able to help a first-timer? /cc @dylanbeattie @shanselman

For anyone interested, it was a huge success! We talked about all the places software is used, challenged the kids to come up with their own computing inventions (they can be so smart!) and then did some Machine Learning in Scratch! (Thanks @dalelane for machinelearningforkids.co.uk )

@dalelane the teachers were amazed we could do ML in scratch, that the kids seemed to get it so quickly, and that they enjoyed it so much. Hopefully organise with the school's head of IT to go back and see about putting ML into lesson plans. Awesome resource. <3

Oops. I should probably have mentioned that the subject of those classes is software development.
I just watched part 2/3 of @smartereveryday series on Social Media Manipulation. I consider myself pretty careful/distrustful of social media but I still picked up tips. More importantly, I can't emphasise enough how important I think this be spotlighted: youtu.be/V-1RhQ1uuQ4

Hey @AmazonKindle - I wanted to thank you. All that unnecessary advertising you do in you Kindle app on the store page (2/3s of store page is BS advert) has introduced me to the Google alternative. Happy to leave the hundreds of books I have in Kindle to rot if it means better xp

Beware if parking @Tesco superstore in Kinson, I visited twice on the same day and have now had a payment demand from a parking company as their system failed to realise that I did in fact leave. Luckily I have cctv evidence of my car at work but others may not be so lucky! #con

A friendly reminder; accessibility matters. I've just booked through @charlestrentltd whom offer a hard of hearing path that ensures all communication is through e-mail and SMS. I can't tell you how much I appreciate having that as an option.

How was your day, @Im5tu ? In case you need cheering up, just spotted this in an *approved* code review... Might need to explain async/await to the team again (in case you wonder, yes, there is a legit await in the method, and no, I don't want to talk about that comment...)

You know how "Every time a child says, 'I don't believe in fairies,' there is a fairy somewhere that falls down dead", I wonder if every time someone misuses async/await, a piece of @davidfowl dies 😀 (I know, I know, not their fault, I'm a bad teacher 😥)
