How screwed is @ElectionsAB? I applied as a scrutineer for the Flair and Derrick in Turner Valley for the 19th, months ago, took the online training and waited for my assignment. 3 days ago I checked the link I was given and it had me assigned to the Royal Canadian Legion on the 19th, a place that only had advanced voting and no voting on the 19th. 2 phone calls and 3 emails later inquiring why I was assigned to a place that didn't have voting, I was assured it was going to be changed. (as late as last night) Last night at 10PM, after I had gone to bed to get ready for a long day, I received an email simple stating the Flair and Derrick is full of scrutineers and I'm not needed. I doubt the @CBCNews or @ABDanielleSmith would be interested in this but it certainly stinks of corruption by an "independent" wing of the government! @JeffreyRWRath @CoryBMorgan @Raine446655

I trained for almost 20 years as an infantry soldier on that base, doing exactly what the soldiers wbo were killed were doing. What the government is claiming occurred is ludicrous, and the timing of the incident is highly suspect.

For some reason (it didn't turn out the way they wanted it to?) the vote count hasn't moved from 10600 in 3 days now.
Should the Province of Alberta cease to be part of Canada and become an independent state? Important: please like and repost to reach a larger sample size after voting 🗳️

I just voted at the Advanced Poll in Diamond Valley and here are my thoughts! (note, they are not good) 1. The advanced polls in Diamond Valley are held at the, get this, ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION! I wonder if I'm the only one that finds it inappropriate to hold and referendum on whether we stay in Canada or start the process towards a binding referendum to separate from Canada at the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION! Scrutineers are told to not wear any politically branded outfits yet there are Canadian flags and Canadian military paraphernalia everywhere. 2, We arrived at 10:20 AM and there were approx. 50 people in line ahead of us. We were told by RO's that they wait was going to be upwards of 1 hour to vote. People in line were saying the line had only moved about 5 places since opening. The RO's were saying that they delay was do to "computer problems". About 30 minutes after we arrived, and showed out ID (only to verify we were at the right polling station, the line had not moved but had now stretched out the door with about another 50 people in line. RO's were encouraging people to come back another time. Most everyone in line behind us decided to leave. 3. There were 4 stations to pick up ballots, split into 2 groups of 2. Each group of 2 stations had a chair for scrutineers. There were ZERO scrutineers on site. I had put in availability in for this site yet the website said all shifts for this location were full. 4. We were able to observe the process of handing out ballots while waiting in line. There was not 1 RO under the age of 70 working there. At each station, there was 1 RO scanning ID's and then folding and handing out ballot #10. The other RO was folding and handing out the other 9 ballots. This person was moving so slow that it was taking them approx. 30 seconds to fold 1 ballot. 5. While we were told the wait was up to an hour, the RO's seemed to be quite proud to tell us that at least we weren't in Okotoks where the wait was over 3 hours. The only thing the computer was being used for was to scan drivers licenses to verify out eligibility to vote. Most people that sat at the RO's desk took 15 minutes to get ID scanned and 10 ballots folded and handed to them. Take from this what you will but I'm willing to bet that they reason the lines were moving slowly was so they could encourage people to come back later, assuming that some wouldn't come back at all. My wife and are are 64 and 63 respectively but I would say the average age of voters at this polling station while were were they were 75 plus. I find it highly suspicious that I had to show my ID twice and scanned once to prove my eligibility but mail in voters could self profess as to their eligibility to vote by simply declaring they are a Canadian Citizen. I'd be interested in others experiences on their voting at advanced polls.
