Our kids are baptized and raised presbys. I grew up quite different. Found out my childhood pastor has been ordained as an apostle. He went pastor-bishop-apostle. My sarcastic 12 yr old son: "What's next? God?"

Or here's another take. College or Pro: you have a phenomenal career, they hang your jersey to honor your efforts. Who cares if someone wears the same number later. It is literally a number. We make sports way too important.
An attorney representing Commanders QB Jayden Daniels informed LSU it can no longer use his name, image and likeness and said he felt "profoundly disrespected" after LSU allowed cornerback DJ Pickett to wear his former No. 5 jersey. spr.ly/6011B1PTDb

As a longshoreman, I see guys in their 70s still climbing a machine, slowly, everyday, when you can retire at 65 with full pension and benefits. One guy had his retirement party six months ago & he's still checking in at 6am. Now insert LeBron James.

Correction. Retirement is actually 59.5 which makes it even worse. And don't include the retires military, police, firemen, corrections, etc working on their second pension.

Just when I thought my 9 year old laptop was done for, a new battery, charger, and @ubuntu to the rescue.

Small Presbyterian inconvenience: as a RE (also licentiate), and your Baptist and Pentecostal family doesn't know how to title you on the funeral program. "No, I'm not a pastor" "I'm not a minister either"

What an encouragement listening to two of my favorite preachers. @pastordeelowg on @hbcharlesjr podcast.

Apologetics and Evangelization is difficult when folks "knowledge" and push back against the Gospel (Bible, Xtian History, etc) is based on social media conspiracy-esque theory videos. But I guess blinded eyes just look different & it's always been the Spirit's working.

1. As one gentleman commented on this: "this is a failure of the church." Our children go to a Christian Hybrid School. 3 Days in school, 2 days home. Incredibly affordable. As a PCA guy, there's no way that every presbytery couldn't provide 1-2 of these Hybrid Schools...
This is so sad because homeschooling is definitely not for everyone and the conservative subculture pushing it as a be-all solution is going to backfire years down the road: ruined marriages, kids with poor mental health, etc.

2. as a legitimate option for families. I'm pretty positive that we have the necessary resources (buildings, finances, educators, other infrastructure) to make it happen. I'm in Jersey and there's only three that I know of in the entire state.

Based, old school Dutch Reformed elder comment where I was pulpit supply for evening service: "I didn't know who Mr. Kirk was. But if these folks want to honor his life, they should've came back to evening service and recorded the memorial."

American Evangelical Pragmatism + Methodist Revivalism + German Pietism + Baptist/Congregationalist Polity + Charismatic Influence + Belief in Election + 0 Subscription to A historic Reformed Confession = Reformed. I get why NAPARC guys get upset.

Great Convo. As a 19 yr old, Youth Min. Dir. at a non-denom church plant, an adult "mature Christian" team member suggested we use "The Secret" for the teens. It was an absolute "No". Attempted to remove said member from team, but was denied by Pastor. This mess runs deep.

WCF for the win. Convo. "You believe in white Jesus." "Nah. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth. That's not Europe." (holds up picture). "You worship him." "That's a painting from like the Middle Ages. Plus I don't think we should make pics of Jesus." "?...."

Glad that our only son is at the age where he takes the long trips for pulpit supply with me. He gets half the ride for all the newer CHH like @nobigdyl and I get half to hip him to some old school Cross Movement.

So, the Sunday after a public military act, I preach (not by choice) on Daniel 2 generally on the kingdoms of the world. And mid sermon, the lightbulb above me blows and then loud thunder. So how's everyone else's Sunday.

Reason #219 to be Presbyterian: the church isn't automatically handed down to the pastor's son like Joe's Local Tool Shop is passed down to Joe Jr. Seeing this way too much.

Weird to present yourself as a John the Baptist figure with perfectly staged professional pics with the right vibe. Building your brand does not equal "locusts and wild honey."

It's always fun talking to my Baptist minister brother, and hearing his church complaints, and I get to end our conversation with: "sounds like y'all need a BCO and a presbytery."

Remember when prosperity preachers would use the Amplified Bible, give a few alternative words in a passage trying to sound deep, and still go on to give some false teachings? Man, those were the days.
