Lung Transplant Update Mayo has decided: the screening trip planned for next Monday is no longer needed. They agree a lung transplant evaluation is the clear next step, and the goal is to schedule an abbreviated evaluation and team consults in a couple of weeks. Things are moving in the right direction. I told them I would send a letter tonight summarizing my current medical issues related to transplant so everything stays on track. I’m also firming up caregiver plans. A real blessing would be a backup caregiver within 2 to 3 hours of Rochester, MN, who could meet me at the hospital on the day or night of transplant. That would make the waiting period much simpler once I’m listed. I wouldn’t need a caregiver to move to the Rochester area while I wait for lungs. If someone is interested, let me know.
