similar to how amazon refused to install AC bc it was cheaper to externalize the cost of an ambulence for heat stroke onto the employee, capitalists will always choose the cheapest option even if it causes mass death

i get this convo but, women being able to independently control their fertility is arguably one of the most important things we have achieved in modern feminist history. its just not worth degrading when there is an active crusade against women’s reproductive autonomy right now

you really cannot say anything about anti-South Asian racism and hate crimes increasing tenfold in Canada without droves of racist bots telling you they brought it onto themselves and other racialized communities going “well they’re racist anyway” What

Her story is important because it lays out that woman would be sexually assaulted more than once in their lifetime but if we talk about it people will never take us seriously.
Pamela Anderson says a boyfriend and his friends gang-raped her when she was 12 or 13. She came home covered in hickeys. Her father grounded her until they disappeared, so she stayed silent because she was already in trouble.
“I was told not to. And then you just don’t.”
“That’s why I never had nannies. My parents help me with my kids. I didn’t trust anybody.”
“I was 12 or 13, and I had hickeys all over my body because that’s what they did to me.”
“My dad grounded me till the hickeys were gone. So I didn’t want to say anything. I was already in enough trouble.”
“I had an older man try to teach me backgammon and rape me right after that.”

vivid and excellent illustration of the limits of identity-based feminism when it doesn't include the labour/capital foundation

I do think Laika artists deserve their flowers and that everyone should go support the new movie but like…. Wages for artists at Laika are *notoriously* low. Like laughably low
Disney and DreamWorks are churning out CGI sequels every year, while animators at LAIKA spent 11 years in an Oregon warehouse hand-weaving tiny coats for puppets to make Wildwood
LAIKA’s last movie lost nearly $75 million in 2019 and any other studio would have pivoted to cheap animation.
God bless Nike founder Phil Knight for funding his son’s stop-motion passion project so we can get actual hand-crafted cinema.
Support real art.
