Under no circumstance can the killing of a one-year-old baby be “justified.” We did not need to see the horrifying and heartbreaking bodycam footage to recognize the Mississippi Attorney General’s statement claiming otherwise is an affront to our supposedly moral society and basic human decency.  Kohen Wiley deserved a long, joyful life. He deserved to grow, and learn, and love. He deserved so, so much more. My prayers are with his community as it confronts this unspeakable grief, and with all those whose demands for justice remain unheard in the aftermath of this precious child’s murder.
