Magic Arena- you DON'T own your cards
Hearthstone - you DON'T own your cards
Marvel Snap - you DON'T own your cards
@ParallelTCG - You OWN your cards.
The best part of trading card games outside of playing with them is the friends you make from trading them with each other. Maybe you gifted a snorlax to someone who loved it, or you traded a box of magic cards just to get that missing power 9 card... trading is what connected us, it's how community is formed and how lasting friendships are made.
These games didn't abandon trading because it wasn't technically possible, they did because it because it was more profitable... The future of games is ownership of your cards and assets and we will see it done. //

I was a younger entrepreneur.
I'd go to a local gym to lift and play hoops.
This one dude about my age (early 30s) would be there.
Every time rolling up in a different Ferrari.
We started talking.
I complimented the car and asked what he did.
He said, "Investments. I help with cross-border trade."
I asked, "Oh, how does that work?"
He explained it.
I didn't get it.
He explained it again.
I had zero clue how it was a viable business.
I nodded my head politely and said, "Awesome. Cool."
It made no sense.
--
A few years later, the guy was arrested for fraud.
Went to jail and they took the Ferraris.
I see it repeatedly in my life:
* I can't understand something
* My gut says "Something's off here"
Pay attention to that feeling.
--
In other words, when the vibes are wrong:
Run away.

The future of gaming is a multi-trillion dollar in depth online ecosystem.
Why AI gaming will grow exponentially
3 primary components that will spark AI gaming
1. AI allows for rich, realistic relationships between the gamer and the characters in each game’s world
2. Cryptocurrency allows games to have a form of payment that can translate back and forth to real world economies
3. AI allows for games to be built for a fraction of the cost in both dollars and human resources
You can’t have an economy without money
Ownership and currency are the backbone of almost every economy. Without them there is little long value that can be achieved.
This is most easily seen by the strong relationship between the strength of a country’s currency and the ability of private citizens to own land and trade goods they own.
Take rates
The current take rate in many video games is 100%.
This means:
You buy an in-game item the game creator takes 100% of the money and it is difficult or impossible to re-sell. When you purchase an item it is usually a sunk cost for entertainment.
The future
A smaller take rate where the person buying an item has ownership of the item and they are able to resell, trade or keep the item. My guess is the future take rate will be a 10% royalty on secondary sales.
By allowing items to be resold this also increases the potential value of in-game items.
Example: A person is willing to pay more for a magic sword if they can potentially resell that sword for 80-120% of their purchase price than if their purchase was purely a sunk cost.
This allows both a deeper financial and psychological connection with the game.
In a simple sense think of how much time, effort and money people put into the homes they own vs apartments they rent.
Cryptocurrency allows online marketplaces to have their own currencies
Each game will have the ability to create their own currency with Etherium ERC standards.
This is a fairly simple process of creating a cryptocurrency under ETH that allows an in-game economy to operate with its own form of “currency”.
AI, friendships and story development
In the future your best friend may be a form of AI in a video game. As AI becomes better and better at navigating human relationships video games will have more dynamic human interactions.
When this is done well people will form “real” friendships and even romantic relationships with AI in games.
This can be coupled with the deep human to human relationships we already see in many multiplayer games.
The plot thickens
We are already seeing the plots of games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us and Elden Ring be at the level of a high quality movie or TV show. When AI is able to provide deeper levels of interaction it will also unlock new levels of reality of plots, some that may be written entirely based on your choices, relationships and actions in game.
Conclusion
Gaming + AI + Cryptocurrency = Unlocking a new level of gaming.
In the next 5 years we will see this begin to come to fruition. This is where “The Metaverse” starts to take hold and new businesses can operate entirely from within the gaming ecosystem.
Building relationships and economies together will give games real power.
I’m excited to watch as this materializes.

History lesson….
If you take away the leasing activity of the FANG + M (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google, + Microsoft) tenants and WeWork, Class A office absorption was negative between 2015 and 2020. 👀
Interesting times ahead…..
Facebook is so bullish on office, it paid rent 7 years in advance… to get out of paying the next 11. h/t @eliotwb ft.com/content/37e61194-bbc0…
