From 1981: mathematics teachers must be concerned with the logical, the social, and the psychological criteria of the elementary mathematics curriculum. The neglect of any of these criteria will shortchange our children's mathematics education. The challenge is a great one.
They sure do! Math leaders (however defined - coach, specialist, supervisor, teacher leader) must have the opportunity to share ideas, accomplishments, frustrations and truly learn from each other.

Yes! The hinge question is such a great way to get a quick pulse in student understanding that drives next steps for instruction! A well-crafted hinge question is worth its weight in gold! #corwintalks

Yes! And that feedback needs to be strengths-based. Looking at and lifting up what students know!
Thanks, Marilyn. Love this comment. As we work to fully understand the importance & value of interviewing, we have also learned to value the importance of anticipation & patience. Anticipating what students may say/do AND ensuring the time & space for us to listen! #CorwinTalks
One-on-one interviews. My learning to listen to students has informed my teaching significantly. Listeningtolearn.com
Our efforts in distilling classroom-based formative assessment techniques to The Formative 5 was & continues to be influenced by the research & ongoing impact of Dylan Wiliam. Locate, read & reflect on his many contributions @dylanwiliam @bkobett @jonathanwray #CorwinTalks @NCTM

Observing is what you already do every day, all day long. Observation is the first module @SkipFennell, @bkobett, @jonathanwray use in The Formative 5 in Action. Check out this Observation Template. #CorwinTalks

So important that the "starting line" as your anticipate a response to an observation is based on strengths you have observed and how they are leveraged to advance student learning (Formative 5 In Action, p. 35). #CorwinTalks @bkobett @jonathanwray @ErinNull1 @NCSM @NCTM
What is your favorite formative #assessment technique? I 💜observation. Taking the space and breath to observe informs my next question, probe, and/or teaching decision! We must legitimize the power of observation! #CorwinTalks @SkipFennell @jonathanwray @erinnull1
The role and direct connection to classroom-based formative assessment (and feedback) should NEVER be an "after thought" in the related processes of planning and teaching mathematics. #CorwinTalks @jonathanwray @bkobett @NCTM @dylanwiliam @ErinNull1
Looking forward to sharing comments and learning!

Such well deserved recognition. Congratulations Joan!
What an honor to be presented with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you to my students, mentors, and all others who have shown invaluable support throughout my career.

Assessment that is regularly connected to planning and instruction both monitors and informs. So important!
Assessment often gets wrongly equated with standardized testing. In reality, it's an iterative process where teachers & students can mutually drive change. ow.ly/2pn250Q4254

Wow! Thanks for the opportunity! Yep - EPIC!
Thank you!
When a student makes a mistake is it a misconception or part of the developmental process of learning? How does our feedback move the student on their learning path? Great learning with @SkipFennell Beth Kobbett & Jonathon Wray. #NCSM23 @AmstiUAH
Thanks (to all) for your comments. YOUR enthusiasm and willingness to “tackle” issues confronting our profession inspire me!
