He doesn’t have to release the ball until I give him the signal, and he can’t take it back until I say ok.

These dogs at this age (10 months) really rev their motors, which is why I have the leash on him. I’m trying to get him to relax outside now, which up to now is the area where he’s allowed to fire away.
Another episode. He’s dying to go chase a squirrel, but I’m asking him to tone it down. I don’t have to do anything with the leash, though he knows the leash means no running. I’m just setting a calming example and reasoning with him.

Three matings we assisted breeders with that we’re particularly proud of are Liam’s Map and Not This Time (@cyfanatic ) and Life Is Good ( Gary and Mary West). Two of the three became G1 winners, and the one that didn’t is a world-class stallion.

Because there’s so much demand for new sires, stud farms front load them to recoup purchase costs. No one talks about what happens in years 2-4 at stud. Golden Pal bred 293 in ‘23 and 209 in ‘24; Olympiad was 228 and 162; Drain the Clock was 199 and 88. Fees drop on them, too.
Yesterday’s shining first-year horse becomes an afterthought after the second year, because breeders are looking for the next shiny first-year horse.
Selling at @FasigTiptonCo November ✨ Breeders' Cup winner CY FAIR, consigned with @TaylorMadeSales as Hip 182.
