We know of 97 calves born in the wild to our ex-orphans. How? Because they chose to bring their newborns home to the people who raised them. Some make the pilgrimage from the wild within hours of giving birth. Others might return to our Reintegration Units a few weeks or months after. Each time, our Keepers are like proud grandparents, over the moon with happiness. Yatta has done it four times. Melia twice. A few have even chosen to give birth amid the Unit - like Murera here, with her newest baby Mwezi. Meet our wildborn family, all alive today because we chose to rescue their orphan mothers: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/o…

They told us Buster was vicious. For years, he lived on a short chain, locked away because of a label he never deserved. But the moment he arrived at the rescue, we saw the truth: there wasn't a mean bone in his body. Since going to live with his mum Kitty, Buster has traded that heavy chain for breezy car rides, sunny beach days, and all the ice cream he can eat. Now that he knows what love is, he wants to make sure other street dogs get their second chance, too. Buster is dressing up for Halloween this year to raise money for Tina's hospital to fund critical medical care for dogs in desperate need. Every donation helps a dog just like him get the treatment and love they deserve. Tap the link to help him reach his goal - justgiving.com/page/chowshow…

Day 3 of Bonnie and Clyde week. These two are taking their recovery in stride and looking adorable doing it. Bonnie is rocking the absolute cutest little pink bandage on her ear, while Clyde is sporting his cone and showing off his sweet teefies. 🥹 Even though they have a long way to go, they are handling their treatments like champions. Seeing them safe, comfortable, and still smiling through it all is the best feeling.

Only hours old, and already meeting her extended family. That includes you! Meet Chili, a tiny wild-born calf. Her mother, Chyulu, is an orphan we rescued, raised and rewilded, and she brought her newborn to our Ithumba Unit to meet the people who raised her. Chili is the 96th calf born to our ex-orphans that we know of! This is what your support makes possible. Thank you for being part of Chili’s story, and ours: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org

Gigi was dumped in the jungle and came close to death when she came in last week. She weighs just under 5lbs. Today Hank came in to see her. He said she is under his watch from now on. Anybody messes with her, call him immediately he said ❤️

Atlas Adventures. Bit by bit in spirit he’s getting strong enough to hold up the world. Weight wise hes not really gained yet despite lots of good quality small meals a day. The vet is not worried. He’s on alot of medication for now and as long as he does drop weight and remains with a good appetite we are ok. Come on Atlas 🩷

He spent his entire life tangled up on a short chain. That’s why I called him Rusty. To see him now is a thing of beauty. One of the nicest and most gentle dogs you could ever wish to meet

Something incredible happened today - Darius let Maya stroke him for the very first time 🥹 When you have known a dog for 3 years and 8 months, and for no particular reason the suddenly decide not to move away if you try to touch them… you can imagine how incredibly special that moment felt 🐶🥰

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: UK GOVERNMENT UNVEILS £22 MILLION INVESTMENT TO HELP REPLACE ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS In a potentially huge step forward for animals used in laboratories, the UK Government has announced £22 million of new investment into technologies designed to reduce and replace animal testing. The funding includes £20 million for a new national centre developing sophisticated human-based models, including miniature human organs — known as organoids — which can be used to study diseases and test medicines without relying on animals. A further £2 million will support projects including beating human heart cells grown in the laboratory and AI systems designed to predict how drugs move through the human body. For animals such as beagles, who are still bred and used in laboratory research in Britain, this could represent an important move towards a very different future. And it raises an important question: Could this eventually spell the END for MBR Acres — the Cambridgeshire facility that breeds thousands of beagles for use in research, including dogs destined for experiments and terminal blood collection procedures? This announcement does not mean animal testing has ended. Animals continue to be used in scientific procedures across Britain, and the real test will be how quickly these new technologies actually replace their use. £22 million is a welcome start. Now we need to see real change — and fewer animals being bred for laboratories. 🐶 Could this finally be the beginning of the end for animal testing in Britain? #AnimalWatch #BreakingNews #AnimalTesting #MBRAcres #Beagles #doglovers #animalnews

Penelope has gone on special foster for a few days of quiet rest and recuperation 😴😴 Her foster mum and dad are amazing people who have a soft spot for the bullies - hence she got to sleep on the bed with them last night bed 🛌🐶😴 We know it’s hard to see a dog in such poor condition, but how beautiful to see her sleeping like a baby. You can be sure she is getting all the love in the world. Thank you Sarah and Paul 🙏🙏🙏
