As the world implodes and with it this platform. Is it okay to still talk about plants? Or must we all be very aggressive and protest with chest-pounding, righteous conviction with a verminous foe through the fibres that connects us all? #plants #gardening
Image of a pennywort plant with several younger plants growing around its base in a bed moss. Growing happily on a wall in the city. Umbilicus rupestris was traditionally used to treat bee stings.

It takes #Netflix to show the world the shame that is #Grenfell. Wealthiest Borough in London. Wrapped a tower in plastic as it was considered unsightly. This is how #Kensington #Chelsea #Tories consider decent, hard-working people.

My peyote is in flower. I never experienced the unexpected joy of a cactus flowering under my care. My cacti are usually unchanging, dormant fixtures on my windowsill. I am truly humbled. #cactus

Preparing trays of thyme for the replacement of a grass in a small lawn. I won't be putting @mowermanjimmy out of business any time soon. Thymus preacox Follow on #bluesky
Shallow trays usually used for microgreens are planted up with the smallest species of thyme in a bed of soil based growing medium. Also added to the mix are two grades of horticulture grit. These plants will be allocated for a lawn project where I will replacing the grass completely.

Moving trays of creepy thyme from the glasshouse. The thin microgreen trays are burning up in this beautiful May sunshine. I will utilise glasshouse space to propagate #Canna lillies. #livingfloor #lawn #raski
These new world plants adore the heat and sunshine of the glasshouse. Canna don't just grow, they perform! Although celebrated across this globe for their foliage and flowers. This delight isn't just a pretty face! They have many other uses from young shoots as food source for its sweet flavour, roots for noodles and the production of 'raski' an alcoholic drink. Highly regarded for it's medicinal value used for a variety of ailments including the treatment of gonorrhea! Canna rhizomes are widely used for soil detoxification!

Today I bring new life!🌱Hardwood cuttings in the cutest little pots, purchased from an Italian gem of cacti nursery. 🌹Rosa Altissimo 'Delmur' 🌹 This is a beautiful blood-red, single flowering climber.. For ease of access, always consider single flowering roses #pollinators
A tray of hardwood rose cuttings in cutest little pots, sourced from an Italian nursery. The deep pots are more suitable for rose root formation. The growing medium consists of soil- based John Innes No. 2 compost and copious amounts of grit.

Haworthia species can trigger both adoration and repulsion. Personally this prehistoric looking oddity of absolute wonder sits firmly in the former category. #Succulents🌱 #SouthAfrica
Cradling a bare root succulent in my hand called Haworthia truncata 'Horoshi Nakatani' (Clone 12) with grey fleshy leaves in a rosette arrangement.🌱

A wonderful addition to a #streetscape. An elegant mature tree in an old wooden whisky barrel. Admirable efforts by the residents of Doon, Co. Limerick. #Sundayvibes
An elegant 15ft mature conifer happily growing in an old whiskey barrel positioned on a pathway. The barrel's steel rim holding the barrel in place is painted red matching the colour of a front door in the foreground.

I have neglected this old man's cactus. Due to its modified spines providing a shaggy protective coat of grey hair. I am unsure whether it's dead or alive. #Schrödingerscat
A cactus coated with modified spines resembling grey hair, hence the common name old man's cactus.
