I gave Opus 5.5 Extra tech drawings for simple product packaging. With simple instructions it created a 3D model and animation in Blender, in under an hour. It would take 2hrs for any artist. So, it is great for setting up project and doing simple setups, which you can then pick up and work on them.
As with all AI tools, Opus 5.5. Extra 3D modeling will not get you to the finish line. I gave it task of modeling Logitech MX4 with images and guidance. This is what it did :) It can make simple general shapes that do not require precision. But for precise modeling, I am very skeptical. Maybe with tech drawings etc. #3dmodeling #AI

Project I did for Suzuki, Austria last Christmas. It was a 3D animation for holographic Hypervsn wall. A part of their DOOH campaign. Quite fun. @Celestial_Ag #3D #animation

I used Claude with Blender and ComfyUI. Works pretty good tbh. It set up a Blender file for product animation with full control. Also modeled a complex model, though with partial success. In ComfyUI it created a workflow based on my specific request without my intervention. I see it as my assistant for boring stuff. I just come in and start working on fun part.

James Cameron is a bad ass
Guillermo del Toro reveals how James Cameron stepped in when his father was kidnapped When Guillermo del Toro’s father was kidnapped, the first call from the kidnappers came with a terrifying ultimatum. “We want 3 million in three days, 5 million in five days, or we chop his head off.” His father was held for 72 days. And as the ordeal dragged on, Guillermo says even his ability to cope with the situation began to change. “First third of the kidnapping, I go and hide in a closet, cover my ears, cannot talk while they’re talking. Last third of the kidnapping, I negotiate.” “My beard comes off. I have no hair on my face. And my mother loses all her hair during the 72 days. All the hair. Eyebrows, hair, everything.” During the crisis, James Cameron stepped in. He paid for a professional negotiator and even offered to help rescue Guillermo’s father. “He said, ‘I’ll get him in a cage in a helicopter.’ I said, ‘Jim, I’ll go in with Navy SEALs.’” “Even although we were in tragedy, I said, ‘Look, I don’t want you to solve it. We have to solve it.’” The family struggled to access the money needed for the ransom. When they told the kidnappers they thought they could raise $100,000, the call ended. When the negotiator arrived, he warned them that revealing how much they could raise might have made things worse. “The negotiator says that same day, ‘It’s going to stay between 70 and 75 days, and you screwed up.’”

So much hate towards efforts of a multi-billion company to survive, while keeping core users in the focus as much as possible. Things cannot stay the same, we all have to deal with it. New jobs may or may not emerge. We'll have to figure it out.
We have a huge pivot underway here at Epic, moving developers around to retool for maximum AI acceleration. The aim isn't to do the same stuff with fewer people, but to enable everyone here to build MORE and BETTER stuff, and to bring the benefits to all teams using Unreal.

I went to see Digger knowing nothing about it except it got terrible reviews. Only went because my wife wanted to see « Emma D’Arcy » in it. We may have forgotten what is the the soul of cinema. It took me 15 minutes to be convinced I hated it. And then everything shifts. Like a fabulous allegory of the power of «narrative », a concept the movie spends an hour and half torturing in a delicious manner. Rarely a movie took me through so many different emotions, swinging like a ball in a flipper. It’s not easy to watch. It’s demanding, and that is what is formidable about it. Tom Cruise delivers an astounding performance. The best I’ve ever seen from him. One scene in particular puts him at the firmament of acting and among the greatest to do ever do it. Go watch Digger. Form your own opinion. And even if you don’t like it, you can still say that at least, you’ve seen 2hrs of true inventive CINEMA.

Fun brain exercise for Houdini amateurs, trying to deconstruct this. I guess pyro explosions are interacting with vellum sphere (or simple animated noise on sphere) from inside. Very nice...
We love this Philipp Welsing! 😍 Philipp created this fun exploration using Pyro sources in #Houdini and rendered it with Karma XPU. Philipp is a Houdini Artist, and one of our amazing instructors. Check out his course: MPM Gel Smear FX. bit.ly/hs-mpm-gel

Reason for fhis nonsense is obvious.
Exclusive: Anthropic is updating its usage policy for the first time in over a year. The new rules prohibit sustained "abusive or cruel behavior" towards Claude & add new restrictions about propaganda campaigns, surveillance & weapon development. theverge.com/ai-artificial-i…

I played with AI this week. Minimax H3 is better and slower than LTX 2.5. Both still lose a lot of fine detail in video. Following instructions is 60% success. Kling is better in following instructions, like 80%. Higher res is just upscale and heavy filter. Needs Topaz love anyway. Seedance is better than Kling but way more expensive. I gave Opus 5.5. heavy modeling task in Blender. It got close and then got stuck in iterating without success. Even with instructions. But, I think AI MCP for 3D tools is actually a game changer. It speeds up workflow without sacrificing the quality. As I predicted few years back, gen AI is slowing down with improvements. If any, last year and half. You burn through tokens to get mediocre stuff. Complex long videos online are just a bait. Made by people with unlimited tokens, hired to promote AI.

What happens when others start blackmailing because they are unprofitable? Luckily, I don't depend on AI. But if you build your business on AI models, you are definitely gambling.
Hey @Kling_ai , I decided to buy some credits for my project over your platform. You took my money, and now my prompt is just stuck for almost 24h. Because I have to subscribe 😀 So you take my money and then you refuse to provide service until I commit??? Awful business model!

What a hero... 🙂 He jumped on AI train first and mocked everyone against it. Tried to sell himself early, at the peak of the hype. There was something dishonest and repulsive in his attitude. Mayhem might be what he deserves...

Ok this is insane...
The latest piece I’ve been working on with vellum, trying to build a system that can tear and then stitch itself back together. I’ll admit, it ended up becoming an "eye" animation, but I realised it's probably not the best animation to showcase the effect #sidefx #houdini

I have been using Claude Sonnet on a website project for a client, for creating web animations. It produced great output, with my guidance. It started pretty bad, but when I put in effort to guide it, it did excellent job. It also provided copy/paste code for me to insert in the website without additional work. That said, since I can't do these kind of animations(by code), I don't know if code is clean and well executed. It is small in size and works well in the website. But considering some tests with HTML(which I do know), it can produce unnecessarily complex output. So I guess it confirms that you need to know what you're doing when using AI. You can get away with some smaller tasks, but for complex work, you better keep your hands on the steering wheel.

I see some ppl claiming this is not true. I think the quality of the visual is very high. But there are obvious issues no 3D artist would ignore. The flower looks different in one scene. Petalls falling off doesn't look realistic, but it doesn't look too bad either. Other than that, pretty good. Animating the bird requires very high animation skill. Trade off is that you lose some consistency. For many projects this is not a deal breaker. Not all projects are high end, with high budgets. But for me, the uncertainty of the outcome, and the tedious boring process of squeezing this kind or result out of AI, is what keeps me away from using AI when I don't have to. MCP and other assistance AI tools are far better options for me.
I've had a few 3D artists message me that this was too good/consistent/physical looking to be AI and that it must be 3D. But I am sorry to disappoint - It is AI.

This is amazing!!
The whole Octane look you love, at game engine speed. True motion blur, depth of field, no effects skipped. Massive improvements on our real-time path tracing mode for Octane 2027, coming up soon on the next alpha.
