Our chapter on adaptation is now available both as NBER WP and in the hot of the press Handbook of the Economics of Climate Change!
An uplift of unifying theory, literature review, methods, and recommendations that will hopefully spur new work in this exciting area
A study of mounting costs of anthropogenic climate changes suggests that adaption will be essential to human well-being in coming decades, from Tamma Carleton, Esther Duflo, Kelsey Jack, and @guglielmozap nber.org/papers/w33264
To all teaching community members,
As a new AP, I’m in charge of (re)designing new (and existing) classes.
Any advice on methods, do’s and dont’s, typical approach, workflow?

Hi #EconTwitter, I am Manpreet Singh, PhD @PSEinfo . My #EconJMP analyses large renewable capacity auctions, focusing on India. I study 2 issues:
1⃣ Theory: Cost-efficiency of firms selected in India's auction.
2⃣ Empirical: Impact of efficient alternatives on public funds
🧵
🎓It is my great pleasure to share that I’ve successfully defended my PhD entitled “Modeling the biodiversity crisis: the roles of space and strategic behavior in bioeconomic modeling” under the supervision of @LMouysset and Chris Costello (@emLabUCSB)
A short thread 🧶
You can now find me @AgroParisTech where I’ll be doing research and teaching as an assistant professor of biodiversity economics!
Im immensely grateful for this journey, and to all the jury members that made it possible: Mireille Chiroleu-Assouline (Paris I), Agnes Tomini (AMSE), Nicolas Querou (CEE-M), Charles Figuières (AMSE), Martin Quaas (iDiv Leipzig) and Jim Sanchirico (UC Davis)
Finally, in the fourth chapter, with Julia Lawson (UCSB), we study the fate of Totoaba macdonaldi, and tools to promote its conservation in market bases scenarios with aquaculture
In the third chapter, I study the optimal management of landscape connectivity with the use of fences, to limit the spread of nuisance species, as well as the decentralized equilibrium in a non cooperative setting
In the second chapter, I study the optimal location of spatial fuel treatments for wildfire risk reduction, while safeguarding biodiversity habitat connectivity, using dynamic optimization techniques and graph theory
In the first chapter, we review bioeconomic models applied to terrestrial ecosystems to highlight frontiers in the methods and understand the main research question of the field

Check out this terrific job market candidate with not one but two great JMPs!
Romain develops state-of-the-art spatial models of climate-economy.
⬇️His first JMP studies biophysical feedbacks such as evapotranspiration and how they affect welfare.

Fantastic : Romain is on the job market!
You should check out his work on climate uncertainties and spatial dynamic modeling, I've had the chance to witness its development, great papers!!

@sup_recherche : ???? WTF ???
