Madness from a Labour Minister.
SHOCKING: Labour Minister thinks beer, black labs and pubs are a 'very far-Right nostalgic vision of Britain’ that ‘we don’t want to have’

Mayors are also being given the powers to raise council tax as much as they want and also spend it on non-mayoral responsibilities. Labour’s version of devolution is little more than a tax-raising exercise while stripping powers away from local people. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3wj…

“Once we cut defence expenditure to the extent where our security is imperilled, we have no houses, we have no hospitals, we have no schools. We have a heap of cinders.”
The exact opposite of what Labour heavyweight, Denis Healey, said in 1969: “Once we cut defence expenditure to the extent where our security is imperilled, we have no houses, we have no hospitals, we have no schools. We have a heap of cinders.”

The Falkland Islands are British. Unlike Labour, the Conservatives will always stand up for our overseas territories.

Another failure from this Labour government as energy bills are set to raise again this autumn ⚡️
Labour promised that they would cut £300 off your energy bill. They have failed to deliver that promise and working people are paying the price. The Conservatives’ Cheap Power Plan will bring down energy bills and save families £200 a year. @MelStride explains 👇

How it started vs. how it’s going… @NewsNBC 👀 🗓️ May: Reform UK Leader Jonathan Gullis pulls out of the @LGA in a fit of pique - cutting off training opportunities for his new councillors 🗓️ July: One of his own councillors resigns, saying she “received no training” 🤦‍♂️

VJ Day 81 🇬🇧
Today is the 81st anniversary of VJ Day - or Victory over Japan Day - which officially marked the end of World War II following Japan's surrender on 15th August 1945. We will continue to remember the sacrifices made and honour those who served.

Hundreds of people gathered at Keele University to enjoy tonight’s spectacular solar eclipse, with over 90% of the Sun covered by the Moon. 🌙☀️ Great to meet so many people and share my vintage BAA eclipse viewer - a veteran of five eclipses dating back to 1999! – at Newcastle-under-Lyme, England

Spending and borrowing can’t continue to outpace economic growth, it simply isn’t sustainable. The bill doesn’t disappear it gets passed on through higher taxes, higher inflation, and more debt. That means less money in family budgets today and less wealth for future generations.
UK national debt has now tipped over the £3 TRILLION mark. Between 2024/25 and 2029/30 we will borrow circa £650 billion on current OBR actuals + projections. Probably more. We will start the next decade with £3.5 TRILLION in debt. We already pay the highest borrowing rates of any G7 economy. Yet the Burnham government is talking about borrowing even more. That way lies madness.

Let’s hope for clear sky next Wednesday evening. 🤞
On 12 August there will be a partial solar eclipse from the UK. ☀️ 🌑 🌍 Starting at 6.13pm, maximum eclipse will occur at 7.10pm with around 90-96% of the Sun being obscured, and ends at 8.03pm. Read more via @skyatnightmag 👉 orlo.uk/5BnjJ #SolarEclipse2026

Labour’s entire agenda for local government reorganisation and fake devolution is about centralisation - taking power away from local people while increasing local taxes in the process.
This is the problem with Burham’s faux-devotion. He doesn’t want to give local leaders the power to do things differently. He wants them to be local avatars, implementing his agenda but with a regional accent. It’s window dressing for greater centralisation.

After I raised the poor condition of the Grosvenor Roundabout, repairs have now been carried out. The before & after photos show the difference. 👍 After 12 months of neglected Newcastle’s ring road needs regular maintenance and timely repairs to keep it safe for everyone. – at Newcastle-under-Lyme, England
