⚠️**High Risk issued for Flooding Saturday**⚠️ We're greatly encouraging residents across WABBLES Country & beyond to stay hyper-aware of the evolving weather situation overnight through Saturday. Dangerous, life-threatening flooding will be possible with this complex weather maker. Those who live along creeks, streams, rivers & other waterways should make plans for sleepover arrangements at another location, just to be safe. As stated by the Weather Prediction Center: "A High Risk of Excessive Rainfall is in effect for western Kentucky and northwestern Tennessee. Life threatening flash flooding and significant river flooding is likely with 3-6 inches of rain expected with isolated amounts up to 8 inches." Should you run into issues with your home due to flooding, our tremendous community partners at OnTarget have an Emergency Line that is accessible 24/7: 270-693-3600. REMINDER: We also have the possibility of severe storms beginning late afternoon Saturday, taking us through the evening. Stay safe & vigilant this weekend, y'all. We'll be here with you all the way through.

This is why teaching Black history is important. Some ppl think Black histories start and stop at borders we did not create. Yes, there are African and Caribbean influences in New Orleans and throughout the South that became part of African American culture.
Dear New Orleans, In collaboration with ESSENCE and Edward Buckles, the “Dear New Orleans” film honors the spirit of Black New Orleans, giving the city its flowers while celebrating those who keep its traditions alive. This is more than a tribute; Dear New Orleans celebrates a culture that continues to thrive. From the city’s beauty and resilience to its culture, traditions, and people, it’s a heartfelt celebration of the people and traditions that make New Orleans one of a kind. Watch Dear New Orleans on the ESSENCE YouTube page.

Jack Dappa Blues RADIO celebrates the life and work of Bessie Jones, a beacon of African American culture and music. Through her voice, she kept alive the deep-rooted traditions of the Gullah-Geechee communities, sharing powerful spirituals, work songs, and blues that continue to inspire generations. As a lead member of the Georgia Sea Island Singers, Bessie dedicated her life to preserving African American folk traditions, offering the world a glimpse into the strength, resilience, and creativity of her people. She wasn’t just a singer—she was a historian, a teacher, and a cultural guardian. A folklorist, activist, and advocate for black expression, voice, and Civil Rights. Bessie believed in the power of music to educate and unite, famously saying: "I want to tell everybody about my people. We didn't have a chance to get our stories told." Her influence lives on in countless artists and communities today. Let’s take a moment to listen to her songs and reflect on the stories they carry. Thank you, Bessie, for keeping history alive through music. 🎶💛 #BessieJones #FolkMusic #GeorgiaSeaIslandSingers #CulturalLegacy #WeRemember patreon.com/posts/bessie-jon…

Hey, great folks!! If you are sending me unsolicited music, which I genuinely advise that you don't, but if you are so compelled...please also send contextual information such as bio, artist's name, and some form of one sheet, so I'm at least aware of who sent what and why. Thanks!
