4 years ago today, Denjell & Lucas, the cofounders of Tauri, wrote C++ for the last time and decided that @rustlang would be the foundation for what today is the most popular of all #OSS projects of its age on @github written in Rust:

Thanks to those who shared their feedback on the initial Rust Trademark Policy draft with the Rust Foundation, Rust Project leadership, & Trademark Working Group.
Here's an update on the upcoming revision process & our commitments to you going forward:

If this is you, you do not belong in the rust community.
One of the defining characteristics of the community is how open, kind, and helpful it is. We’re all on the same team, *including* the rust foundation.
There is no need for “punching up” - that’s friendly fire.

And last but not least: note that Rust (just like Python, and others) has had a trademark policy for many years. This is not something new.
Here is the current trademark policy, which will remain in place until an acceptable replacement is available: foundation.rust-lang.org/pol…

I have seen many reasonable concerns with the (first) draft of the updated Rust trademark policy (and have some myself too), but I also see some confusion about what trademark law does and doesn't cover. Blogging about Rust is fine. Naming your new language "Rust 2.0" is not. 1/5

I also have serious concerns with this first draft of the proposal, but please know that the Rust project will only accept something that we, and the community, can feel proud of and stand behind. Like an RFC, there will be multiple revisions before it could possibly be accepted.
From today through April 16, we invite you to review the current draft of the updated Rust Trademark Policy and share any feedback you might have using this form.
Your responses will help us ensure the Rust Trademark Policy is useful for all! 🦀

Okay so blocked a certain Primagean now, too much hate, too much uninformed spreading of fear. Timeline is much saner now.
There are more important problems people!
Reuploaded with fixed audio. Sorry for the previous version, I have a new mic and I accidentally messed up the settings in OBS youtu.be/o6_dPMWsagU
