They call it immediate. Breathing space. Then, same breath, it doesn't start till January 2027. So immediate now means a year away. Bless them.
That £2 fare already existed under the Tories. Then Labour's own Chancellor shoved it up to £3. Now they take a bow for lowering a price they raised. They broke your leg and they're charging you rent on the crutch.
Then the money. £400 MILLION they say they found. It was climate finance, cash promised to help the poorest countries survive floods and famine. They took THAT, turned it into loans, to knock a pound off a fare that won't arrive for a year. Let that sink in.
Third trick this week, mind. Tax cut paid for by binning digital ID. Buses paid for by raiding net zero. Rob Peter, pay Paul, put out a press release.
They call it breathing space. This, from the lot whose ministers got filmed days ago LAUGHING about letting rapists and killers walk out early.
