A tree's light-colored rings represent wood that grew in the spring and early summer, while the dark rings represent wood that grew in the late summer and fall.
👇
1 light ring + 1 dark ring = 1️⃣ year of a tree’s life.
Here is a list of some Valley landscapers who we work with and recommend. If you're in another part of the state, look for companies with Texas Certified Landscape Professionals. They make the effort to keep learning.

Lots of south Texas homeowners have never experienced a freeze like last week's winter storm Uri. They're calling our farm looking for help. It's not what we do, but we do work with great companies who can help.
Heading to El Cielo Lindo Court this morning to help them make their street more “lindo” (that’s “pretty” to any non Spanish-speakers). They are the Shade Our Street winners and we’ll teach them to properly plant a tree - & drop trees for them to plant. #wholesaletrees
Compelling article re Suzanne Simard’s work on the connection between trees and mycorrhiza. It’s got me wondering about the lessons we can learn that will help us to improve our growing process

What a pretty alternative to lawn - unfortunately this years nasturtiums have already melted in our south Texas heat. If you want this look, plant your seeds in October. So you’ve got lots of time to prep that ground!
Spotted in my neighborhood. Why not swap out your lawn for nasturtiums? 🤔☺️
They're edible from leaf to flower to seed and are a favorite of bees and hummingbirds too. #gyo #biodiversity
21,362,242 trees planted! Way to go #teamtrees ! You crushed your goal!
Our goal was 20M trees by this exact moment. Crazy we overshot it by cool 1.3M trees. What a ride @MrBeastYT @teamtreesofficl and like a billion more of you. Bring on the next decade!!!

#Trees can hint at the history of a #landscape. This fallen #oak tells that a #tornado likely touched down here circa 1960. When the tree was felled, some of its deep roots stayed intact, allowing it to successfully pivot from vertical to horizontal life. 📸: Brianna Casselman
Gardening - it’s good for all of us!
It’s fall with a dust of winter.
Did you know spending 30 mins raking and bagging leaves, digging, planting trees, trimming shrubs and trees, hauling branches, or stacking wood burns energy at a rate 3-6 times that of someone sitting in a chair? #TreeFacts #UrbanTrees #FallTrees

I can’t imagine that 9/10ths of the world breathes bad air - but I know trees clean our air like nothing else in this world! #treesdothat #plantsdothat
Who doesn’t love walking under a tree canopy? 😍 Globally, 9 out of 10 people breathe bad air. But trees can help. Trees capture heavy metals like lead, iron, manganese, chromium, and barium, making it a little easier to breathe. #urbantrees #streettrees 🌳
