The potential adoption of aspirin-free strategies holds promises for reducing bleeding risk without sacrificing antithrombotic efficacy, especially in particular patient populations thanks to advancements in stent technology. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Join us at 7:30 AM ET Wednesday for cath conference. @Sim_Finocchiaro will discuss "Percutaneous Interventions for Pulmonary Embolism."

Percutaneous treatments for pulmonary embolism are emerging as alternatives to conventional therapies with recent data, and safety profiles endorsing a shift towards a “primary percutaneous pulmonary intervention” strategy, similar to that for ST-elevation myocardial infarction.
We conducted a review of randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses of antithrombotic therapy for patients with CABG, highlighting the reliance on expert opinions due to a lack of large-scale studies and definitive guidelines for preventing graft occlusion.
The optimal antithrombotic strategy to prevent coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) occlusion relies heavily on expert opinions rather than large-scale randomized studies and definitive guidelines.
We conducted a review of randomized clinical trials and meta-analyses of antithrombotic therapy for patients with CABG, with the aim to inform clinical decision-making on the best choices for individual patients.

This study of 25 trials and 17128 patients, now ahead of print in Circulation, employs frequentist random-effects network meta-analyses and Bayesian random-effects models to compare optical coherence tomography (OCT), intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), and invasive coronary angiography (ICA) to guide percutaneous coronary intervention.
Pairwise meta-analyses were conducted on direct components, accompanied by multiple sensitivity analyses. We also focused on assessing the pooled effect of intravascular imaging versus invasive coronary angiography. The main paper includes 5 tables and 8 figures, supplemented by additional 54 tables and 11 figures in the online appendix. Such complexity reflects the non-trivial nature of the subject, for which we aimed to provide a critical contribution.
