In 2025, the world's largest silver producer was not in Mexico but in southwestern Bolivia. San Cristóbal, a large open-pit mine run by Minera San Cristóbal, produced 17.6 million ounces of silver, narrowly ahead of Mexico's Juanicipio at the same rounded figure, in new Metals Focus data on the 20 largest primary silver mines.
These are the operations where silver is a defining product rather than an incidental byproduct of lead, zinc and gold. The list runs from centuries-old mines in Mexico's silver belt to remote sites in the Andes, the Australian outback and the Alaskan wilderness.
Eight of the 20 are in Mexico, accounting for about 44% of the total, while the rest are spread across the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Read more: tinyurl.com/mw4ssapm

What if preventing cavities in children's teeth no longer meant accepting permanent stains?
New research suggests nanosilver fluoride may offer the same cavity-fighting benefits as traditional silver diamine fluoride—without the telltale black staining it’s known to cause.
Dental cavities remain the most common health condition worldwide, affecting more than 500 million children with untreated decay in their baby teeth.
Because childhood oral health can affect lifelong dental outcomes, innovations that improve treatment experiences matter.
This latest research highlights another promising example of silver's role in advancing healthcare and improving quality of life.

The world’s largest silver bar, delivered by SAM Precious Metals and weighing a monumental 1,971 kilograms in honour of the year the UAE was founded, stands as a powerful symbol of our nation’s history and economic resilience. At @dmccfinx , we are building on this achievement, extending it into the future of trade and finance.
Through @Tokinvest_Cap , a cornerstone of our vibrant FinTech community at the DMCC Crypto Centre, we are fractionalising and tokenising this physical asset to enable shared ownership.
This project highlights the growing importance of Real World Asset (RWA) tokenisation. By digitising physical commodities on the blockchain, we are unlocking greater liquidity, accessibility, and transparency for assets that were once difficult to trade or divide.
Today, RWA tokenisation is reshaping how capital flows across global markets. The UAE continues to be one of the most resilient and forward-thinking nations in the world, and this project reflects the same spirit that defines our people: honouring our history while consistently building what comes next.
To mark this milestone, I invite you all to share what this nation means to you. Share a short 15 to 30 second video using #WhatUAEMeansToMe
