Excellent reporting on how Cambridge mishandled Prof Arday's case vs the protective measures for a similarly "public" story by a different Prof James Orr. It also explores the growing yt supremacist foothold & online lynchmob & centers Prof Ardays students. Pls read 👇🏾
The story of Jason Arday is the story of James Orr Of the ideology that has found a foothold in institutions like Cambridge, fostering the sorts of ideas that formed the undercurrents against Arday I returned to my alma mater for an in-depth exploration: bylinetimes.com/2026/09/17/t…

Hard to think of a tidier symbol of the ideological overlap between the CPC and LPC that’s accelerated under Mark Carney
Stephen Harper was so impressed by Mark Carney's CEO investment summit that he said he wishes he had come up with the idea himself. The former Conservative prime minister seemed to have nothing but praise in this speech for Carney.

The argument is that a bibliography is supposed to be stuff you've FUCKING READ AND THOUGHT ABOUT.
what is the argument against using AI to compile a large bibliography?--as this is pretty mindless work

See the Ontario Heritage Trust plaque I wrote on the 1837 Moseby Affair: heritagetrust.on.ca/plaques/…
#OTD Sept. 12th, 1837, 200+ Black residents staged an uprising in Niagara-on-the-Lake to prevent the return of Solomon Moseby to his Kentucky enslaver. Two died, several were injured, and many were arrested, but Moseby escaped, fled to England, and eventually returned to Niagara.

I wish everyone understood that 90% of the time a university kills an academic initiative to "save money" or "increase efficiency" they are really killing off something they just don't value because, believe me, they are happy to throw money into the wind.
This paragraph from a good article on administrative bloat in higher ed might be the head-hurtingest thing I've read today

Israel has now killed more people during the Gaza “ceasefire” it agreed to in October 2025 than the total number of military and civilian casualties on October 7, 2023. Over 300 of those killed during the “ceasefire” were children, eight times the number killed on Oct 7.

In recent years, two cyclists have been killed after being struck by vehicles near Avenue Road and Bloor Street: In April of 2024, the driver of a flatbed truck killed Ali Sezgin Armagan, 39. Armagan, a recent immigrant from Turkey, was delivering food for Uber Eats when he was hit. Three months later, the driver of a dump truck hit and killed an unnamed 24-year-old woman at Bloor and Avenue. A construction dumpster blocking the bike lane forced the cyclist to merge into traffic, where she was fatally struck. Doug Ford's culture war on bike infrastructure will force cyclists to compete with drivers for space. It will make everyone less safe and lead to more deaths

Academic freedom is suddenly of great importance when a fascist is suspended. But when students, faculty, and staff are suspended, fired, arrested, and deported for speaking out against genocide, it’s just business as usual.
