Something I learned going through protracted withdrawal/brain injury from antidepressants and benzos. I was wasting my time and energy blaming Doctors, pharmaceutical companies where there wasn't a hope in hell of getting accountability or help for that matter. I started believing in my own power to heal. I ate well, went outside in nature, learned to breathe, meditate and accept it was me that was accountable for fixing myself as best I could. You can heal. You can recover. It can take a very long time but believe things will get better. Don't give up hope. I know how hard this can be for anyone going through psychiatric drug injuries to believe.

What if “normal” is just what we’ve gotten used to? If most people are waking up only partly restored, then comparing one tired brain to another doesn’t tell us what a healthy brain can actually do. Before we decide what’s abnormal, maybe we should first figure out what fully restored looks like.

When I see Ehlers Danlos girls acting strange, I get very nervous now because I now know they need rheumatology, neurovascular, and vascular consults and psych probably isn't going to order it. It is terrifying to have lived this and to be on the other side of it. (Needing a stent and biologic but getting an antipsychotic instead because no one checked for anything other than glucose and thyroid).

Is it just me or does it seem like telling one's story to be heard and understood is looked down on by society as laziness or whininess or something? #gaslighting #cptsd #toxicpositivity #unsolicitedadvice

When you have a #chronic illness, it seems you get all the world's #hate. They want you to hurt more, they want to practice self-destructive habits. Especially family. The world is exhausting, too much pain in place of comfort. #love

I believe in strength & vitality. In America, we don't believe this. We believe that being a vegetable is the normal course of things so people with illness get no #compassion. Sad that this is how people are expected to live & feel. #chronicillness #toxicpositivity

“Trying to get others to understand #invisibleillness can be practically as draining as the illness itself… Judgement, unsolicited advice—the energy required to respond to or brush off this is energy people with #chronicillness can’t spare.” buff.ly/3R2p2ix @CreakyJoints

In my experience with neurological illness, it seems there are very few people in the United States who have #empathy or any ability to understand or listen. #ableism #invisibleillness #nofriends

Makes sense that strangers are more helpful than family. Because family looks down on being "humanitarian". But they #love you. And happily watch you fall. #cptsd #hopelessness #despair #disability

Just because a person is alive or somehow managed to stay alive doesn't mean they are okay or were ok. It's amazing the excuses people will make. And never mind that humans are expected to have no needs other than to "survive". #homelessness #abuse #chronicillness
