Our Charlton Supporters Team once played a game in Scotland against Ayr United. The ref greeted us as ‘English bastards’ and was so biased against us the opposition stopped the game after 20 mins to tell him he was embarrassing them.

The crass insensitivity of these remarks is only matched by their bewildering ignorance. Maybe when he came to the UK for his second state visit he should have gone to the National War Memorial Arboretum in staffordshire and seen the list of names of those who fell.
