Yesterday a man called me cheap, and it made me feel insecure. He analyzed my pictures and said that I had cheap popcorn ceilings, cheap carpet, floor to wall closet mirrors, and therefore I live in a cheap apartment and am not doing very well. Okay, ouch. Definitely a blow to my ego, and made me feel insecure. Because in this world, your success is displayed by expensive things you own or rent (homes, cars, jewelry, shoes, clothes, etc.). HOWEVER.... I looked into that insecurity feeling a little bit more, and this is what I discovered. Less than a year ago I wasn't even able to pay my rent at the place that I lived at. And yes, I was domming a year ago. A few years back I left a bad situation. I had ZERO money, no place to go, no way to get a job (trust me, I'm not getting into why for privacy reasons), and I was fucked. But it was either continue to stay in that bad situation or jump without a safety net. So I jumped. During that time, I racked up debt just to be able to survive (because I still had a decent credit score at the time). And it still wasn't enough. Now. Here I am. In the shitty apartment I moved to after I left the situation, a few years later. My debt is COMPLETELY paid off, my rent and bills are paid through the next year already, and I have made my own safety net. So why am I saying this? For baby dommes. Yes, I still live in a 'cheap' apartment. That's because I'm more focused on building my private net worth than showing off how 'successful' I am as a domme. There is NO ONE coming here to save you. NO ONE is putting money in your future, or your retirement. NO ONE BUT YOU. Every domme I speak to on a personal level, I tell them diversify your options. Make sure that you're saving more money than your spending. Because NO ONE is saving you but YOU. -Don't just build here, build on another platform simultaneously (Reddit, LF, OF, etc.). Because if one platform goes tits up, you have the other to fall back on. -PRIORITIZE YOUR SAVINGS. Your savings should go into THREE places. - High yield savings account (I have auto deposits and goals set up.) - Investments (stocks, crypto, etc. Again, I have auto deposits for investments set up.) - Roth IRA (when you take that money out later, you won't be taxed on it. Vs a traditional IRA you will be taxed when you take the money out.) - ALWAYS get your 'gifts' as payouts. Fuck what you want now. Sure you may really want that necklace, but fuck that. Prioritize your future FIRST. The younger you are when you do this, the bigger of a safety net you can have, the more freedom and options you have. I'm grateful to live in my 'cheap' apartment, because it's paid for and I wasn't always able to do that. And not going out and splurging on a more expensive place just so I can appear to be successful to others is the smartest option for me, because I am quietly building my private safety net. Because no one is coming to save me. Nor do I ever want to feel the NEED to be saved by someone again. And I want that for you dommes as well. Subs will come and go. There will be busy times and slow times for domming. Make sure YOU are making smart choices along the way, so that no matter what happens YOU are protected.
