Being a finalist of the $100,000 @cheggdotorg #globalstudentprize feels surreal and affirmed my belief that creativity and purpose can cross any boundary, even as a student navigating both art and medicine.
I aim to raise awareness on pressing public health issues, spark dialogue, and create lasting impact in underserved communities. Whether behind the camera or in a clinic, I’m always working toward the same goal: to heal and to inform.
Within my medical student association, I have also served as a one time local officer in charge of medical outreach programs for the Nigerian medical students association( NIMSA) and the head of outreaches for the committee of public health and outreaches.
Even with my growing film career, I remain fully committed to my medical training. I believe that health and storytelling are deeply connected and by combining my medical knowledge with film,

As co-founder of 3WM Productions, I lead alongside my brothers @Emmanuel__king_ & @David_itegboje . a media company that’s redefining African storytelling through documentary, commercial, and branded content.
I've had the privilege of being sponsored twice by the French Embassy & StoryMi to participate in global docu film forums in France, and by Sony to attend the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards in Los Angeles. I'm a proud StoryMi documentary fellow and a Global Arts in Medicine fellow
So far, my films have been selected for over 25 international film festivals, with 15 nominations, 5 special screenings, 4 awards, and recognition across 12 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, India, South Africa, Zambia, Rwanda, Benin Republic, and more.
I fell in love with documentary filmmaking along the way and made a resolve to carve a space for myself where I can use media to shape global opinions on health and public well being. For the last 8 years I have dedicated myself to film and medicine, finding a balance in both.
I’ve always leaned into my divergent side having multiple passions for music, medicine, film, business and engineering but had to make tough choices along the way. I decided to leave the path to becoming a guitar meastro and chose medicine over engineering.
Since secondary school, I’ve always been part of groups considered as “misfits”. I led a club called the Sustainable development club for two years filled with the “back benchers” and students looked down upon to state and National project exhibitions, winning awards.
I’m Itegboje Daniel, a documentary filmmaker and medical student passionate about telling stories that matter. My work is rooted in capturing real-life experiences and social issues, with the goal of creating narratives that don’t just inform, but move audiences to action.
I wasn’t the kid collecting so many prizes on prize-giving day. But that changed. Honoured to be a finalist for the $100,000 @cheggdotorg Global Student Prize for my work as a year 6 medical student at Uniben & award winning documentary filmmaker.
