Happy birthday to Black Thought, born on this day in 1973! A Philadelphia rap luminary whose love for music, forged through early street cyphers and the Five Percent Nation’s wisdom, birthed lyrical mastery as The Roots’ co-founder with Questlove. His dense, incisive flows on classics like Things Fall Apart (1999) and freestyles hailed as GOAT-level elevated conscious hip-hop, while solo gems like Streams of Thought, Vol. 1 (2018) showcase his boundless intellect and grit.
