welcome critique, appreciate encouragement, ignore advice
Journalist: What is the best writing advice you've received? Anne Carson: I've never received any. I don't ask, frankly.

I love the tone of this piece. Especially the line, "Six dangling days of nuzzling commas, a string of ands and no plug to light them. "

Every human being has equal value. Every single one. At the United Nations General Assembly, I challenged a world that still decides whose lives deserve protection and whose suffering can be ignored. No race is superior. No people are disposable. Until we honour that truth, "everywhere is war" remains a warning we have failed to heed. What the world needs now is love, with the courage to confront injustice and defend our shared humanity. Love and a little kindness. For everyone.

I love this poem about how bereavement displaces us. Please give it a read:

The trouble with AI is that it convinces the masses there's no use in trying. Learning isn't a waste of time. Creating isn't a waste of time. What are they spending that time on anyway? Tik tok?

If I had one piece of flash fiction writing advice this week, it would be: Resist the urge to give a story a trick ending or a cheap final punch-line ending. I've noticed over the years that these endings usually disappoint readers in our queue & are often the reason they vote no

As an immigrant, grieving a parent can leave you feeling even more disconnected from self, culture, and family.
