Great results from this opt-out cancer screening intervention from our Population Health LabL screenings for liver cancer jumped from 28% to 54% when researchers mailed an opt-out ultrasound order. Adding a $20 gift card had no effect. @Shivan_Mehta @asset25 @caitline_09
Patients with #cirrhosis are especially vulnerable to #livercancer. A new @PM_Innovation study in @HepCommJournal found that mailing screening orders directly to patients with this condition nearly doubled cancer screening rates. spr.ly/6013RXe1l

Many women remain overdue for their mammograms even when they receive an order from their doctor. But a “nudge” that prompts patients to schedule their own screenings that was studied by @PM_Innovation resulted in significant change. spr.ly/6012ROj7A

Two new articles out from @PhillyInquirer featuring @Shivan_Mehta: "Colonoscopies save lives, but many Americans don’t get one. Home tests could help change that." pennmed1.org/3hSuVN7 & "Colonoscopy isn’t the only way to screen for colon cancer" pennmed1.org/3CsQ1uY
Colon cancer is among the few cancers that are preventable with routine screening. But many Americans are skipping colonoscopies.
Cases are rising among adults under age 50 who aren’t being routinely screened.
