While Ontario and Quebec forests burned this spring and summer, causing dangerous levels of smoke in Canada and the USA, @fordnation kept a lid on a climate change report completed in January that warned of the growing risks of such fires and a cacophony of other dangers. 1/12

What says Dean @SoCalTaxProf and @PresEmeritusAKB ? Katie Zacharia graduated in 2011, six years before you became Dean; was guidance really provided by a former Pepperdine Prez, as she claims? Seems unlikely given California law, so some clarity would be helpful.
Congratulations to Pepperdine alumna @KatieZacharia on her appointment as White House press secretary! A graduate of Seaver College and @PeppLaw, Katie exemplifies Pepperdine's commitment to preparing students for exceptional lives of purpose, service, and leadership. We wish her every success in this important role. Go Waves! 🌊

Doug Ford affixes a $47 Million bandaid that will do little to address systemic failings outside hospitals that clog ERs. Our nearly $100 billion Ontario-funded health system is broken. Pocket change tossed at one symptom won’t fix it.
Our government is fighting to cut emergency room wait times so people can get the emergency care they need faster. Today, Ontario launched our Emergency Department Action Team with a $47 million investment and a mandate to identify and tackle common delays, improve patient flow and apply these lessons to lower wait times across the province. This is what you want from a closer: Someone who takes ownership of a loss even if his manager left him in too long.
Mason Miller was asked how he felt: "Terrible. I didn't do my job today ... The cardinal rule is pretty much: You don't beat yourself. And I beat myself today. I mean, a base hit with nobody on doesn't win them the game. A base hit after you walk the bases loaded does." #Padres

Donald Trump relentless assault on free expression is proof that America’s Founding Fathers never contemplated a future that included fascism. Trump’s misuse of presidential power was already the focus of the courts after he banned @AP for continuing to use “Gulf of Mexico” 1/3
Some thoughts for my colleagues targeted today… The reporters at the outlets that have been “banned” should stay at the WH until their shifts are over. I left for dinner the evening of my press pass being taken. When I returned the secret service asked for my press passes. 🧵

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS V. BUDOWICH is still before the federal courts 20 months after Trump tried to appeal to his shrinking base by unilaterally renaming the Gulf — an imbecilic act he repeated more recently when he tried to rename Lake Ontario. 2/3

Trump has attacked every pillar of democracy — and will do so until he is either impeached or relinquishes power (still in doubt) after this term. 3/3

Canada’s hard line combatting Trump’s tariff war gets a boost from U. S. Supreme Court as seven justices nix Trump’s plan to suppress mail-in ballots. The ruling exposes Trump/MAGA to the wrath of voters, giving @MarkJCarney more leverage in trade talks.
An effort by Donald Trump to suppress voting in the Midterms was denied by the Supreme Court — and only Justices Alito and Thomas dissented. The ruling is a win for democracy but also evidence of how far Trump/Alito/Thomas will go to subvert it. nytimes.com/2026/09/14/us/po…

Trump will kill most limits on pollution from coal and natural gas power plants, eliminating safeguards meant to prevent thousands of premature deaths, accelerating climate change and preventing future presidents from regulating greenhouse gas emissions. nytimes.com/2026/09/13/clima…

A year before 100 Iranian school children were killed by an American missile, @SecWar obliterated a military team formed to minimize civilian casualties and he did so over the objections of senior military leadership. propublica.org/article/hegse…

Another Republican governor stampedes on Donald Trump after the failing president pushed ranchers into the slaughterhouse by importing cheap beef whose origins are murky. Canada has a growing number of allies to combat Mad King Trump.
I’m a rancher. I know firsthand what it takes to raise cattle, make a living, and keep a family operation going. I’ve worked alongside President Trump when his policies are right for Oklahoma, but I’ll stand up to anyone when they’re wrong. Flooding the market with foreign cattle hurts Oklahoma farmers and ranchers who work every day to produce the best beef in the world. As Governor, I’ll stand with the people who work this land, protect Oklahoma agriculture, and always put Oklahoma producers first.

Desperate Donald Trump has sacrificed American cattle ranchers to bribe Americans with cheap, foreign beef before the Midterms. So the Republican governor of Montana is firing back. There is no back Trump won’t stab to dodge accountability for a disastrous war and tariffs.
I’ve advised President Trump against this course of action for a year because American ranchers have been struggling against the packer monopoly for decades, and this will further harm them - most of whom are MAGA Republicans. The President’s heart is in the right place on wanting lower prices for the American people, and beef prices have been impacted by the Mexican screwworm. But the reality is this action will make it more difficult for American ranchers to rebuild our herd and bring prices down for the American people. And most importantly, this will harm our ranching families who feed the nation.

Donald Trump assaults free expression and people who pursue truth, this time against a think tank that found his deployment of the National Guard didn’t reduce crime but instead was used to strengthen his grip on power. nytimes.com/2026/08/21/us/po…
