WTF?! MARYLAND JUST TOLD DAYCARES TO KEEP THE CHANGE. ALL $66.5 MILLION OF IT.
The state's own internal audits found $66.5 million in overpayments to childcare providers between 2023 and 2025. Invoices never came in. Sign-in sheets were missing.
Money went out for kids who weren't even enrolled anymore.
So what did the state do? It let them keep it. Maryland's education department announced it would not pursue "broad recoupments," and it even planned to hand back money that providers had already repaid.
One provider told FOX45 exactly how it feels on the receiving end: "We do not have to pay it back. We did not earn it. We did not provide the service for it."
Maryland law says overpayments get collected. This program exploded from $132 million to $560 million in five years, and the people running it admit they never had the systems to track the money.
That's your money. If a regular family got overpaid by the state, they'd be chased for every last penny. Daycare providers just got a $66.5 million pass.

Case update from @FBIMiamiFL: A Kansas CEO and owner of an internet platform was sentenced yesterday to 19 years in prison for his role in operating a platform that generated false doctors’ orders and prescriptions to defraud Medicare and other federal health care benefit programs out of more than $1 billion.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Brett Blackman and his co-conspirators aggressively targeted hundreds of thousands of Medicare beneficiaries across the United States to get them to accept medically unnecessary orthotic braces and other items. They then arranged for purported telemedicine doctors to sign bogus prescription orders for these items so that their co-conspirators could bill Medicare for them.

A radical LGBTQ organization is mailing pamphlets to CHILDREN, encouraging them to cut off their parents and leave the state so they can get g*nital mutilation surgeries.
