I've connected with a lot of new people here lately, so here's a re-introduction. Hi! I'm Shanice. If you found my profile recently, chances are we care about the same things: 👇 - I've been in marketing and events since 2012. By 2017–2018 I became a media founder and fight journalist covering the UFC, travelled all around the world. Built one of Australia's most successful fight sports media platforms, built a 1M+ audience, before COVID and I sunset the platform. That reset pulled me into crypto in late 2020. Then I went all-in during the NFT bull run. - I was Marketing Strategist for Australia's largest crypto event for two years: 9M+ organic impressions, 300%+ lift in reach and engagement during my tenure. Supported 33% year-on-year growth in ticket sales. - I also worked as a freelance consultant under my consultancy MERKLE, working across a number of L1 projects, DeFi protocols etc was head of ecosystem for a UTXO L1 too. Supported over 10+ independent ecosystem projects during my tenure and nurtured an institutional partnership. - I started my studies in Applied Blockchain for Enterprise & Business in 2024, graduated the diploma at the start of 2025. Have been deep diving into decentralised protocol governance and systems architecture ever since. - This past year, that all came full circle when I got to work with Bybit, helping architect their APAC acquisition funnel and work in campaigns for their regional affiliates. - Won the Crypto Content Creator Campus competition in Lisbon in November 2025 with a killer team. - I'm a published author, I love writing. I took a career break earlier this year, wrote some poetry which is now being published with Simon & Schuster late 2026 (yay!). - Today, I'm MarOps Manager @crypto_banter, building a new venture which I believe will become a multi-million dollar business and an incredible acquisition engine. This month: we acquired users and FTDs at less than ~$2 CPA for our partners. Saw 10.7% growth across our total funnel. In a bear market. I work with a superstar team and I'm more bullish than ever before. Values and Musings Every chapter in my career has taught me that marketing is a systems discipline first. That alone is what has pulled me deeper into protocol governance, solution architecture, and systems theory. I'm trying to pick up my presence here and write more about governance, distribution, systems theory, and how humans have coordinated value; from the Silk Roads all the way to on-chain protocols. That's also where this page is heading. I'm shifting my focus to share more of my work and show just how interesting, and how vital, protocol governance and systems design really are. No matter what you're building. If that's your world, stick around. 😊 Outside crypto, I founded and run Shekinah House (this is where my handle 'shek' comes from), a humanitarian mission. This is my life's work, what I'll be doing until the day I leave this earth. Last year we supported the rescue and rehabilitation of 6 girls from human trafficking in Cambodia, and saw it through to all 6 winning their court cases against their perpetrators. My core beliefs as someone deeply embedded in this industry: - Everything you build here should be intentional. - Trends come and go, know who you are and what you stand for, or the market will decide for you. Goes for individuals and projects alike. - Don't take no for an answer. Keep building and keep shipping. - I've never been more bullish on this industry then right now. - Show me your systems and your governance, and I'll tell you whether you'll be here in 10 years from now. - Hot take: I don't care about making money in this industry, I've done that. I care about creating impact. If any of this resonates, let's be internet friends. 😊

🧵Can technological progress truly be called ‘progress’ when MILLIONS remain unable to navigate, resist or meaningfully use the systems that are shaping and impacting their lives? Simple question, loaded answer. My extensive research into technology, protocol governance and privacy (and how these crossover at the intersection of human and civil rights) has led me to discovering over and over again that technology is rapidly becoming a large contributing factor to the ever-growing number of humanitarian crises in our world. TLDR? As fast as solutions are being shipped, so is the list of exploits, risk factors and the attack vector for bad actors to prey on some of the world's most vulnerable communities. Here are three case studies I reviewed: 1. A woman escaping domestic abuse was located by her abuser after she fled to a safe house; she was stalked through a smartwatch that she left behind when fleeing. 2. Iran’s ongoing internet shutdown, which began at the start of 2026, revealed how digital infrastructure can become an instrument of control and censorship. I also discovered what profound impact proactive measures can have, with technology: 3. In Iraq, a program which combined digital and financial education helped displaced and vulnerable people successfully move towards employment, freelancing and renewed economic agency. These 3 instances reveal two sides of the conundrum I discovered: digital systems can expand human agency, but they can equally become instruments of surveillance, exclusion and control. This is why I believe digital literacy must be treated as humanitarian infrastructure. This thread highlights some of the organisations and initiatives at this very frontline... Save this one if you care about privacy, human rights or technology.

@Logos_network is developing privacy-focused, decentralised infrastructure for secure communication, censorship-resistant value exchange and aid or resource coordination for funding and supporting people, without putting any parties at risk. It is a community first technological solution. PriFi by Logos combines privacy-preserving systems with user-controlled hardware. logos.co/

10x this, monetise that, ‘our tech is the best and most scalable’ Yes, but what are you doing for humanity with your platform and your influence? 🤍

Crypto is the greatest humanitarian mission of our lifetime. Social trading apps cover one small part of the surface area in the adoption arms race; and truth be told, I'm yet to come across one that isn't purely designed for extraction. Builders; please don't get distracted from the cypherpunk mission that brought you here. There's no shortage of humanitarian crises that blockchain could solve. Stay inspired, keep building.

For more than 3 years, I’ve been studying how decentralised protocols are actually governed, but this research has taken me FAR beyond blockchain. I’m tracing the recurring problems of power, trust and coordination from ancient civilisations and their earliest record-keeping systems to the cypherpunk movement, early cyberspace communities and today’s protocols; examining where crypto’s claims of decentralisation diverge from reality. Soon, I’ll begin sharing what I found. Some conclusions may surprise you. Others may make certain people uncomfortable. All of this is necessary dialogue, and I can't wait to share. More soon. I’m excited to be recognised as part of the CWC speaking index for women in crypto, and even more excited for the opportunities I will have to speak about my research. There are some incredible founders in this index too, very proud to be featured alongside them!

This is why this industry struggles to beat scam allegations. Greed and grifting will set us back more than regulation at this point. 11.6M cryptocurrencies failed in 2025 alone. I can only imagine what the number will be year-end for 2026.
the top 25 pumpfun deployers: > launched 770k tokens > extracted $128M from the trenches > produced only 6 tokens with a 20M+ MC that's $128M extracted just by 25 devs

‘Decentralisation’ and ‘permissionless’ are not just ‘words’ or ‘bullshit’ to many of us still building in this industry. Trying to control, censor and shut down permissionless networks on a whim leads us back to square one. This is flawed, counter intuitive logic and the antithesis to what crypto was intended to achieve. The point of journalism is to assess, interview and present facts or information to the public. To tell important stories and highlight important causes or discoveries. To report with integrity. *Not* to 2v1 someone on a podcast and then clip out his responses to serious laundering accusations. The kind of accusations that can have huge repercussions for builders; come on, do better. Was very disappointed watching that interview. Keep on keeping on @CBarraford. Your composure is so commendable. 🫡
"But I don't want to profit from North Korean laundering money via the service that I provide, that would be a concern for me." @laurashin now that you know you do profit from "north korea" are you willing to send 1inch money back to bitget? Will you drop them as a sponsor?

You deserve to wander, freely. The ability to freely browse, connect with services, and communicate with others online is a critical aspect to both individual autonomy and democratic participation in society. You are more, than your data.

Long before working in crypto, I built a media company that reached more than 1M+ people; and then lost it. A reminder for anyone who needs to hear this: Losing one version of your future does not take away your ability to create another. You can start over again, as many times as you need to, because the most valuable part of the career equation in your life, is YOU. 🤍
Here is some of my pre-crypto lore 😊 loved reading yours @dee_centralized I was a Muay Thai fighter and moved to Thailand in 2017, became a fight sports journalist, started my own digital magazine and media platform. I chose to be independent because I wanted to write long form pieces that covered the fighter's journeys, the hardships they went through during camps while trying to find sponsorships etc One interview with Mark Hunt catapulted my team and I into success, I got my media credentials and from 2017-2020 I travelled the world covering promotions like the UFC and ONE. I got to interview and cover fighters like Alex Volkanovski, Israel Adesanya, Luke Rockhold, and many more. In 2018 my small but mighty team of 5 people covered 42+ promotions independently. I scaled the platform to 1M+ viewers, we had thousands of monthly readers and subscribers; it was the ride of my life! Covid shut us down as all the live events stopped for a period of time, and travel became very difficult. Soon after that, I pivoted to crypto and haven't looked back since. Currently I'm a MarOps Manager leading a team of 12, building the acquisition and growth engine for Crypto Banter. I've spent the last few years in crypto working across ecosystem and protocol development, trading and DeFi product growth. I'm also an author, my second publication with Simon and Schuster is coming out end of this year!

Ok let me share some of my pre-crypto lore also. My first significant stage appearance was a TEDx talk. At the time, I had a travel blog (if you read my last post on the evolution of media, you’ll recall that blogging was the first form of new media and super hot from 2006-2016). The organizers invited me to give a talk on how I travel the world and work remotely (back in 2017 working remotely wasn’t really a thing). I spoke about all that and I dedicated a chunk of my talk to the concept of memento mori. Memento mori is simply to remember the shortness of life and to make sure you live to the fullest. Back then, I took a risk to leave my corporate job at Bank of America to travel the world and freelance as a copywriter and marketer. Later on, I took another risk to shut down my very profitable freelance business to work in crypto. So far, I have zero regrets about any of it. And looking back on that talk, I had no stage training, no media training just following my instincts. Now, I’ve learned to move my arms less, hold longer silences for dramatic effect, engage the audience better, and so much more but that’s a whole other topic. And that is the pre-crypto lore. Share yours. 🖤

crypto is losing nerds and it will probably be the reason of its downfall the latest active pipeline of "attention economists" and "social traders" are not helping much to the situation just to try to remember, when was the last time, when you saw a tweet about a crypto concept, that doesn't revolve around trading and don't use any of buzzwords (narrative, edge, etc etc) and where the poster was genuinely obsessed with that thing we are still running on fumes of the tech that was built in 2016-2017 and unless something interesting pops up again, we are doomed

It's easy to seek validation from ecosystem leaders in posts, but validation from ecosystem supporters matters far more. Especially here, where the supporters can become leaders too, and it’s everyone’s shared responsibility to make sure that happens as frequently as possible. Decentralization is only as powerful as the next generation that inherits it.
