Who has actually been held accountable for the Sheffield Tree Felling saga?
Anybody?

Have you seen the Freedom of Information replies and refusals from @SheffCouncil and @syptweet related to the #Sheffield's PFI street tree felling scandal?
Even after numerous @ICOnews interventions.

It is difficult to express how I feel about this development. We joined the campaign when others thought the campaigners were 'over zealous loony lefties'. Chris has spent hours reading, understanding, writing. Trying to fight for a just cause, in the face of toxic politics.
Symbolic moment in the Sheffield tree-felling debacle - "The Streets Ahead clause requiring the felling of 17,500 street trees will be removed":

This thread is an essential read...
Would seem that there are still some important questions that still need answering by @SheffCouncil & @SheffLabour about the Street Tree felling scandal in #Sheffield and indeed the Nolan Principles.

Pretty odd Steve Eccleston can start a whole policy of labeling emails not subject to FOI.
Half the cabinet and chief executive used said policy.
But no actual records on how was implemented or what officers were told.

What a story! Massive Green gains and strong Lib Dem performance has taken Sheffield into NOC.
This looks to be the price Labour ultimately paid for the #SaveSheffTrees scandal, on top of long-term Green growth.
Really can’t say enough how interesting Sheffield politics is.

Yes, trying to jail an excellent Green councillor and other environmental campaigners for objecting to their dreadful PFI scandal wasn't a good luck for a Labour Council. Perhaps if the party as a whole had paid more attention at the time? #SaveSheffTrees @ItsOurCitySheff

I can tell you that this miserable chapter in Sheffield's story didn't just change civic activism, it changed at least one regional editor as I learned myriad lessons about how journalism is better for being powered by passionate, well-informed people.

In case you’re wondering @DoreVillageSoc - Vernon’s doing fine even though the road’s being planed and resurfaced. Seem to remember that people said that it wouldn’t be possible.

During the Sheffield tree debacle he gave me his mobile number so I could update him on the goings on. It’s still on my phone!!

#redherrings... Why not check out @SheffCouncil s infamous 'mythbusters' during the #SaveSheffTrees unsavoury episode? 'felling as a last resort' now exposed as a complete lie. Strong leadership? Thanks but I'll take my chances with a committee that has even a glimmer of scrutiny
