The Steel City Trophy will be going ahead in 2022 😁 but as a UK-only competition. We're sad we won't see our overseas friends this year, but hope you understand. An email has just been sent to every club subscribed to our mailing list - thank you all for your ongoing support!
It’s COMPETITION DAY!
After a long 20 months, our #Sheffield teams are preparing to skate at Alexandra Palace in Synchro Skate London.
Good luck to everyone taking part - we can’t wait to see our synchro family again! ⛸⛸

We are extremely sad to officially confirm that the Steel City Trophy 2021 will not be going ahead in March 😥
We look forward to welcoming our synchro family from around the world to visit Sheffield for the next Steel City Trophy in March 2022.

#isitok that ice skating and ice hockey @Olympic sport training venues in the UK are classed by the @GOVUK as "entertainment" forcing their closure in tier 3 areas?

🗣️"What I want is to be treated equally to any other sport."
Michelle Draper, CEO of BIS, spoke to @WomensSport about the joint BIS, @EIHA_Official & @IceManagersUK request for ice rinks to be allowed to open in #tier3.
The majority of ice rinks will be forced to remain closed even after lockdown restrictions are lifted after the Government classified the sport as 'entertainment' | @molly_mcelwee @Verityabb

Ice sports cannot continue in Tier 3, but other indoor sports can. This is because rinks have once again been categorised as Entertainment Venues, not Sport!
We join @BritishIceSkate in lobbying to reverse this decision!

British Ice Skating have been working to clarify how the new rules affect all disciplines in our sport following the new guidelines set out by the Prime Minister on 22/03/2020. For the latest update relating to Synchronized Skating Clubs, please see the attached photo.

Athletes in #England have got their skates on. We are ecstatic to be back. We want to see how you are staying safe. Tag us and use #backontheice. Campaign #backontheiceScotland and #backontheiceWales has begun. We are nearly there. #sportnotleisure

I’m mainly renowned for being a trouble causer, so this from fellow #gooner @Hitchin_layth is lovely. #icesports are #overlookedolympicsport and there truly is no reason for @BorisJohnson not to let us #backontheice hitchin.nub.news/n/39we39re-…

As a #sport, #iceskating is world renowned for the fitness and strength of its #athletes. The UK #Government are pushing for more #female athletes and here they are, ready to go. Just let them get #backontheice. #sportnotleisure

@darrenadam I’m an ice skating coach. Our athletes are not allowed to train despite it being an Olympic sport. Snow domes are open and trampoline parks etc. Rinks are going bankrupt with huge overheads and our athletes are falling behind
We are forgotten

“Visit” really?!?! How insulting! You don’t get up at 4am to “visit” an ice rink - you go there to train! @MattHancock @BorisJohnson @10DowningStreet @Sport_England #sportnotleisure #overlookedolympicsport #getscotlandskating #backontheice
.@BorisJohnson @BBC_HaveYourSay I read a news article today about lockdown & apparently you can’t *visit* an Ice Rink. @BritishIceSkate ⛸ athletes don’t just *visit* Ice Rinks they train there. Thank you for opening Ice Rinks this week so our ⛸athletes can get #backontheice

So sad. Please consider the skaters missing out on the Nationals this year. We need our ice rinks open. @BorisJohnson @OliverDowden @10DowningStreet @Sport_England @pritipatel @MattHancock #sportnotleisure #overlookedolympicsport #getscotlandskating
We are devastated to have to cancel these #iceskating #events due to the decision made by @BorisJohnson @OliverDowden. We have not taken this decision lightly but our #athletes need time and we believe that until we are #backontheice, this is the best decision for all concerned

Imagine explaining to her that all the hours of training was just for fun and not a competitive sport. Shame on you @BorisJohnson Get us back on ice #athlete #iceskating #COVID19 #sportnotleisure #overlookedolympicsport #thisgirlcan @CommonsDCMS @piersmorgan
