Don't let pessimism win
Is it just me, or is gaming losing its magic? I don't remember it being like this. I don't know how to explain it, I just feel really sad about it today

Masahiro Sakurai says originality in video games doesn’t always lead to sales but an industry without originality will die a slow death.
“I am going to say something pretty harsh, but originality doesn’t really have much of an impact on sales. I actually think it ranks pretty low on the priority list. Everyone likely feels the same way, right? For example, with convenience store drinks, there probably aren't many people who go out and try every single new drink that comes out.
The more accustomed people become to something, the closer it gets towards being a standard, or rather, I think people tend to want a taste that matches their preferences and meets their expectations.
However, an industry that loses its originality will ultimately just die a slow death. I believe the industry exists today because of the people who pioneered new inventions and created new forms of enjoyment.
The Game Designers Award” will come to an end, but I hope you will continue to look out for novelty, originality, and the unique qualities that set a game apart. Thank you very much for everything.”
We're adding side quests to Your Painting, Sir! The butler has a smartphone which he can use to call phone numbers he finds in the newspaper.

Aseprite was also the first tool for me to convince me to let go of MS Paint. All the other tools I tried (available at the time) like GraphicsGale were not able to convince me for whatever reason (e.g. steep learning curve or weird workflow).

The animated weight on the third one is very satisfying to watch

Wait... that's YOU!
Squeak your way into a journey full of adventure and the supernatural in Mousebusters, out on Steam June 11!
A bit late, because I was busy with our demo, but a big shoutout to Joe for posting about our game! Even though the tweet didn't amount to much, the Short, Reel and TikTok did very well, and combined with our demo we got 10k wishlists in the past 5 days. Insane!
The demo is 100% off for an unlimited time. Better be quick!

It's Called Your Painting Sir. Would you play this?
A tutorial at your own pace.
At first I explained in dialog, copying what many games already do, but this felt very disruptive to the player experience.
I solved it by using sticky notes with short explanations. The player has the option to click a note if they want more info.
Until that time, you can wishlist the game on Steam ✂️
