Improving math scores by 0.5 standard deviation for children up to age 12 is associated with larger increases on earnings by age 30 than other equivalent improvements. the74million.org/article/stu…

With a loved one in the hospital, here is my timeless reminder that you MUST be an advocate for yourself or others when in the hospital Good communication amongst providers is often lacking😖 Don’t hesitate to make a fuss (respectfully) And don’t worry about being ‘difficult’!

We are profoundly grateful that Dr. Ruth Gottesman, Professor Emerita of Pediatrics at @EinsteinMed, has made a transformational gift to #MontefioreEinstein—the largest to any medical school in the country—that ensures no student has to pay tuition again. bit.ly/3wvBj7y

You can actually tell that across all colleges, Math majors are obviously better quantitatively but also better verbally than half of humanities majors.

I have successfully avoided Covid since the pandemic began, but unfortunately a family member brought it to our Thanksgiving gathering last week and I tested + Monday. Highly recommend @PushHealth for obtaining Paxlovid quickly. 1/2

There will always be a need for in-person care, but there is also a need for quick response care/prescriptions (outside of ERs and urgent cares), particularly with Covid when you don't want Covid+ people leaving home! I am thankful for @PUSHHealth!

1/Please share this thread on behalf of my physician colleague, Eunice Stallman, who is facing the nightmare of her 9mo daughter, Zoey, being diagnosed with brain cancer several weeks ago. @BlueCrossIdaho has added to their anguish by obstructing access to vital treatment.

Great idea! And female-founded by @JohnsHopkins grad students. Love it!
It’s tape you can eat! @tasteetape, an edible tool developed by @HopkinsEngineer students, has been named one of @TIME Magazine’s “Best Inventions of 2022!”

I saw solar panel shades in a parking lot in AZ last year and thought it was brilliant...bonne idée! France to require all large car parks to be covered by solar panels theguardian.com/world/2022/n…
Pediatrician here. I want people to know that death by firearm is not rare in kids. In fact, it has been the #1 cause death in this age group since 2020. In 2020 alone, 4300 children died from firearms. That’s equivalent to one Boeing 747 plane crash every month for 9 months.

Slide decks hide can shallow thinking. Narratively structured memos are harder to write because they require better thinking. It’s worth it.
I see a lot of organizations relying too much on slide decks relative to actual written memos for their internal communications. Presentations are great but prose has a unique value in clarifying thought and creating an unambiguous record.
