ALT Headshot of The Hon. Professor Carmen Lawrence along with a quote: "We have just witnessed a tectonic shift in Australia's political landscape and a massive transformation in the force fields which will drive policy change. Swings to Labor in victory varied wildly from state to state and a third force has emerged to challenge the predominance of the major parties: community-based independents with progressive agendas have ravaged the Coalition's heartland and the Greens have won extra seats. The message to our Parliament seems clear - climate change must be an urgent priority and voters are prepared to overturn the status quo if they feel they're being treated as fools."
ALT Headshot of Martina Ucnikova, Co-Founder of She Runs, and quote: "Women shaped this election long before it even started. Brave women challenged unjust systems that didn’t account for them, or didn’t listen to them. Over 460 women ran for election, each supported by many more women in their campaign teams and their communities. Women organised, mentored each other, cheered each other on, door-knocked, tweeted and took to the streets. Women didn’t just shape this election, women won this election, for other women, for our children, and for our communities."
